Obtaining clarity through arising is the practice path of the Mahayana. Manifestly seeing is the path of seeing, but the term "obtaining cessation" is not used. When one particularly obtains Prajnaparamita on the sixth ground, one uses the term "obtaining cessation" when one obtains the ability to cease conceptual grasping even in the post-meditation state, an ability far greater than before, and one obtains the ultimate ability on the seventh ground. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras, the term "without characteristics" is also used, but it does not mean that conceptual grasping cannot arise. When one has completely abandoned all conceptual grasping on the eighth ground and can effortlessly abide, there are two types: with purpose and without purpose. The first is to abide in order to abandon what is to be abandoned on that ground, and the latter is the extent to which one needs to arise. Some people, not understanding this point, think that on the eighth ground, having gained mastery over non-conceptual wisdom, one abides in that state and then arises from it, encouraging the accumulation of merit in the post-meditation state as a cause for obtaining the powers of the Buddha and so on. Because the non-conceptual wisdom that directly realizes the nature of reality is also attained by Hearers and Solitary Realizers. If one has realization of the sole reality, there is no need to strive to accumulate other merits; it is sufficient to become accustomed to that alone. This is the babbling of the unwise. It is written thus. This is not reasonable, because if one arises merely from abiding in non-conceptual wisdom on the eighth ground, that itself should be prevented in this context. The Sutra itself says that in order to realize the qualities of the Buddha, this is also the ultimate forbearance, and giving praise such as "Well done! Well done!" is not reasonable. Although Hearers and Solitary Realizers have realized the two selflessnesses, their having non-conceptual wisdom that directly realizes the nature of reality seems to be a view that does not differentiate between the Great and Small Vehicles, so it has already been refuted. The key point is this: for the cessation that prevents all elaboration, merely abiding and entering into absorption are not prevented. As explained earlier, it is necessary to abide when there is a purpose. If it were prevented, it would be unreasonable to praise entering into absorption and arising from it; one should say from the beginning not to enter into absorption.

Therefore, when eliminating the obscurations of one's own portion, once one has remained in equanimity, one can effortlessly enter this ground. Therefore, even when it is not necessary, one remains in equanimity, and even prevents entering into equanimity. This is because at that time, both the practice of the Buddha's Dharma and the benefit of sentient beings would be interrupted. This is stated in the Abhisamayalankara: it has the same meaning as preventing the direct realization of the ultimate reality without having accomplished the three: perfection, maturation, and purification. The third is, however, any son of good family who possesses our ten powers, etc., which is easy to understand. The fourth is, if those Buddhas, Bhagavat, etc., meaning that at that time they would completely pass into nirvana. In the Nirsnang it says, then, that nirvana is not the nirvana of the Shravakas, because from the generation of Bodhicitta onwards, the attention to it is abandoned for a long time. Nor is it the nirvana of the Buddhas, because what should be abandoned by meditation has not been abandoned. So, what is it? In general, there are eight kinds of nirvana: the nirvana of cutting off the roots of virtue after attaining the peak, the nirvana of the evil realms after attaining forbearance, the nirvana of the limbs after attaining dhyana, the nirvana of the eighth existence for the stream-enterer, the nirvana of the second existence of the desire realm for the once-returner, the nirvana of the desire realm for the non-returner, the nirvana with remainder and without remainder for the Arhats, and the nirvana with intention. Here, it refers to the last one, which is temporarily designated as nirvana in consideration of the interruption of altruistic activities. The third is attachment, etc. The commentary says that when the sun of non-conceptual wisdom rises, like darkness, the afflictions that arose earlier, which became the cause of samsara, all the actions in the three realms will be completely pacified with their roots. Even if one has abandoned it and become the supreme lord of the three realms, the sun of non-conceptual wisdom has already risen, that is, one has attained mastery, which is the time of the eighth ground. There are two causes of rebirth in samsara: the afflictions of the ordinary person's nature, and the state of the impure seven grounds.
