Therefore, it is wrong to apply the scriptures that refute self-awareness, which can be examined by reason, as a means of knowledge to refute self-awareness in name. As it says in the Root Wisdom: When analyzing and refuting the example of self-awareness as a lamp, just as refuting the self-illumination of the lamp also refutes its ability to dispel darkness, so in name, it is unreasonable to conclude that dispelling darkness is also untenable. Also, as it says in the Treatise on Refutation: When refuting that valid cognition is established by itself, it also refutes that valid cognition is established by another, so in name, the object of valid cognition will be completely non-existent. Also, as it says in the Clear Words: Quoting the sutra that "in the function of cognition as self-awareness, the mind to be experienced cannot be found," therefore, in name, the mind to be experienced itself will also be non-existent. If someone says, as it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Just as a sword cannot cut its own blade, and a finger cannot touch itself, so is the self-aware mind." Therefore, if self-awareness exists in name, then in name, the blade of the sword would cut itself. If you think so, then examining the examples in the context of rational analysis will lead to many clinging to extremes. Otherwise, there would be a sky lotus in name. Arya Deva says: "The consciousness that possesses pure meaning is not accepted by those who are permanent, because it is separate from the nature of one and many, like a lotus in the sky." Moreover, one and many exist in name. If the opponent thinks that the directly perceived here is the object of self-aware direct perception, then it will become the nature of direct perception, because the Clear Words says: "The object of direct perception is the nature of direct perception." If you admit it, then direct perception will become imputed, because it is the direct perception that has an object. If you think so, then in this system, imputed direct perception and the nature of direct perception are not contradictory, because what is known as direct perception in the world is considered the nature of direct perception in terms of its being known as direct perception in the world, and is considered imputed only in terms of its being nominally imputed. If it is imputed, then it is the nature, which is not pervasive, because the nature must be established on the name that corresponds to the mind born together with the world. Distinguishing between the nominal designation of the Madhyamaka school and the nominal designation of the Realist school seems very important. The fourth is: Therefore, and so on. Third, even without proof, refuting the established: If, and so on.
