These are the ten paths of action. If one wonders how a householder can practice the seven abandonments, the Vaibhashikas say there are four abandonments. When the difference between the four and seven abandonments is understood, they believe that by taking vows of a certain number, one obtains corresponding tangible objects. Therefore, monks have seven abandonments, and those who have not taken full ordination have four. But here, the emphasis is on the very thought of actually abandoning what should be abandoned by body and speech. Therefore, the vows of a layperson also possess all the previous characteristics. As the sutra says, "Do not show a layperson to others, practice the ten virtues." The third is not being defiled by the stains of breaking vows even in dreams. The second is body, speech, etc. In the "Ten Bhumi Sutra," the method of abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions is explained in detail during the second generation of Bodhicitta. If one thinks, isn't it also practicing the ten virtuous actions in the first Bhumi? This is because the perfection of ethics is superior, so it is practiced even more excellently. The third is autumn, etc. The fourth is if, etc. As it is said in the "Arya Ratnakuta Sutra": "Kashyapa, here, some monks are endowed with morality, abide restrained by the Pratimoksha vows, are perfect in conduct and practice, fear even small and large faults, take them up correctly, learn the bases of training, and are endowed with completely pure bodily, verbal, and mental actions, and live purely, but they claim to be masters. Kashyapa, this is the first way that immoral people pretend to be moral." And up to, "Kashyapa, also some monks here correctly take up the twelve qualities of training, but they look at the target, abide in self-grasping and grasping at what is mine, Kashyapa, this is the fourth way that immoral people pretend to be moral." The second part has four points: stating the faults of the unfavorable side, advising to rely on the antidote of morality, stating it as the basis of all qualities, and explaining it as the cause of higher realms and definite goodness. The first is giving, etc. The second is therefore, etc. The third is qualities, etc. The fourth is each, etc. In the "Ten Bhumi Sutra," it says: Ten non-virtues

It is said that there are those who do not eat meat. There is no contradiction between the two explanations here. There, it refers to two individuals who possess that name, while here, it is said that "Black-eared Woman" is an inauspicious name, so it is inappropriate to say that. The meaning of the commentary on the Four Hundred Verses is that, in the manner of "all contaminated things are suffering," wherever the perfection of contaminated things exists, there is suffering. Here, it refers to the fact that auspiciousness and inauspiciousness, which are known in the world, cannot coexist, so "Black-eared Woman" is another name for inauspiciousness, and the two explanations are consistent. Furthermore, if it is explained as two individuals, it is not necessarily the case that where one is, the other must be. The fourth is "whose" etc. The second is "prince" etc., the second ground is shown by the example of the moon's light. The second generation of mind has been explained. The third generation of mind has five points: showing the nature of the ground from the aspect of definition, elaborating on the superior qualities of generosity etc., explaining how other qualities can be obtained in that ground, explaining the three common dharmas of the three, generosity etc., stating the qualities of the ground and summarizing the conclusion. The first is "knowable" etc., the appearance like copper is like the red-yellow of the rising sun, which is the appearance of experience. The second has five points: especially showing the perfection of patience, speaking of the faults of intolerance, greatly praising the qualities of patience, therefore advising to cultivate patience, explaining the differences of the perfections. The first has two: patience is superior from the aspect of compassion, patience is superior from the aspect of view. The first is "if" etc. The Ornament of the Sutras says: When one has love, towards those who harm and constantly suffer for the benefit of others, it is difficult to generate the thought of benefiting, what is there to be patient with for such beings? This is in accordance with the scripture. The second is "selflessness" etc. The aspiration of Maitreya says: Earth or water or fire, like the element of wind, does not abide, without patience or anger, may the perfection of patience be fulfilled. This has the same meaning, because the harmed and the harmer are not seen, so the patient and the patient are not seen, therefore even if patience is not cultivated, one will become patient. The second has three points: ripening unpleasant results.
