Because it can be prevented by harm, and here it is to eliminate the attachment to truth, which is the cause of suffering. Therefore, it is said to be eliminated. Third, there are three ways to identify the two selves to be eliminated in this context: eliminating the self that is not combined with the basis of designation and does not exist in name; eliminating the self that is combined with the basis of designation and exists in name; and explaining the key points of infallibility by explaining how the innate and imputed are apprehended. The first is: Some people think that those who believe in the self are outsiders, and those who believe in no-self are insiders, which is just a common saying. And relying on what seems to be the reasoning of "the wisdom of realizing no-self enters the reality of the object," they say that even in name there is no self but there is a person. This is said in the sutras: "Just as relying on the limbs, it is conventionally called a collection of vehicles, just as relying on the aggregates, it is conventionally called sentient beings." And "Great King, the person, the individual, is one who has six elements." The sentient beings, individuals, and persons mentioned in the root and commentary of the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds are used as synonyms for the name of the self. They do not focus on the explanation of how the vehicle is established by relying on the limbs of the vehicle, the self is established by relying on the aggregates, and the self is established by relying on the six elements, which combines the meaning of the metaphor, but speak arbitrarily. In addition, the self that is distinguished from the aggregates is established on the person, because it is said in the sutras that it is conventionally established by relying on the aggregates, and is the one who takes the aggregates. As it is said in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds: "This is accomplished by relying on the aggregates." And in the commentary on the Chapter on Protecting Oneself Well: "For those who are arrogant about the self, this is established and produced, therefore it is called the self, that is, the person who is conventionally established by relying on the aggregates is called the self." And in the commentary on The Self of Fire and Wood: "Therefore, what should be taken is called taking, that is, taking the five aggregates. The one who is conventionally established by relying on them, the taker, the holder, the maker, whoever that is, is the object of clinging to the self, therefore arrogance about the self is established and produced in this, therefore it is called the self." This is because it is said so.

The "I" is also merely nominally established. As it says in the "Entering the Middle Way" (Madhyamakāvatāra), the main reasoning for establishing the absence of self of a person is that when the person is sought in the aggregates with the sevenfold reasoning, it is not found, therefore the person and the self of the person become one. This is a statement that lacks subtle wisdom. Because if the person is found in the aggregates by the sevenfold reasoning, then it and the self of the person can become one; if it has not been examined by the sevenfold reasoning, then the person who is imputed based on this and the self of the person cannot become one. Otherwise, the sprouting of a sprout from a seed and the sprouting of a sprout from a seed in the ultimate sense should become one, because the meaning of the non-sprouting of a sprout from a seed in the ultimate sense refers to the fact that the sprouting of a sprout from a seed itself is not found when examined in four ways. Similarly, a chariot and a chariot established in the ultimate sense should become one, because the meaning of the absence of a chariot in the ultimate sense refers to the fact that the chariot itself is not found when its parts are examined in seven ways. And so on, these can be applied to all Madhyamaka reasonings. Therefore, these are saying: 'As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, there is clinging to the self in them.' The object of the co-emergent clinging to the self here is merely 'I,' which is indicated by the names of the twelve agents such as person and pudgala, and is merely a person. And that mind, from the perspective of the way the object itself abides, grasps the substantially existent as established, and this is the self of a person. Similarly, because they have not understood the difference between dharma and the self of dharma, they speak arbitrarily. Āryadeva said: 'All dharmas are without self.' The so-called 'without self' means without own-being. Because the word 'self' means own-being. Also, in the commentary on the "Four Hundred Verses" (Catuḥśataka), it says: 'The so-called self is the own-being of things that does not depend on others; the absence of that is the absence of self.' This can be understood as two by distinguishing between dharma and person, that is, the absence of self of dharma and the absence of self of person. Therefore, the two 'selves' in the phrases of those two, and 'all dharmas are without' from the four seals of dharma,
