There are also divisions into three: the first two are the common objects of negation for all three vehicles, and the latter is the uncommon object of negation for the Mahayana, so all objects of negation are included here. Furthermore, the Commentary on the Mind of Enlightenment states: "The enlightened mind of the Buddhas is not obscured by the conceptions of self, aggregates, etc., or by consciousness; it is always characterized by emptiness." Here, three objects of negation are also established: the self-nature conceived by the Tirthikas, the self-nature of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases conceived by the two schools of Shravakas, and the self-nature of the non-dual consciousness conceived by the Vijnanavadins. This refers to the extreme of the completely imputed as conceived by those who speak of entities, both internal and external. The fourth is: "Neither existent, nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor the nature of both; the Madhyamika who is liberated from the four extremes is the only one of the wise." And so on, the objects of negation of the reasoning that teaches freedom from the four extremes are divided into four extremes. This refers to the fact that all elaborations must be negated in order to attain enlightenment in the Mahayana. Thus, although there are many classifications in the scriptures, they can be summarized into three extremes: the extreme of denying non-existence, the extreme of affirming existence, and the extreme of clinging to emptiness as truly existent after negating the objects of negation. The first is that, in the manner of "those who deny existence will go to bad destinies," one denies the dependent origination that appears in conventional truth, saying that it does not exist, and this is to engage in slander. In short, it is the very view of holding to non-existence. "Saying that there are no results of actions, non-virtue leads to bad destinies; this is said to be a wrong view." So it is said. Among these, there are three: the first is that the Tirthika beautifiers say that there are no beings such as gods and hells that have not been seen, and this is to slander the very nature of some beings. The second is that beings are merely the gathering of the causes of arising in this world, or they arise suddenly from no cause. This is to slander the cause. The third is that the two paths of selflessness, practicing well and practicing badly, will not produce any result. This is to slander the result. The view that possesses these objects is the object of negation of the path, and since it is also necessary to negate the object of clinging to it, the object is the object of negation of reasoning. The same is true for the following cases. Therefore, such a

The negation of cause and effect even in name is what is to be negated here. Because it contradicts the scriptures of the Sugata and is inconsistent with well-being, it must be negated. Because it is obstructed and prevented by worldly valid cognition, it can be negated without harm. Because it is said that "the non-existent will go to the lower realms," it is said to be negated in this way. The second extreme is the imputation of truly existent things: In the way that "the existent will go to the higher realms," imputing that phenomena and persons, etc., which are inherently non-existent, are existent, thus engaging in acceptance and rejection based on karma and its results, although it only becomes a cause for higher realms, it will still wander in samsara. In short, the very view of existence, saying "the fruit of karma exists," is compatible with the cause of merit and higher realms, and is said to be the correct view. So it is said. There are three: uncompounded permanent single entities, compounded impermanent multiple entities, and the emptiness of these, which are considered to be truly existent. The first is: what the non-Buddhists call the self of a person, which is different in meaning from the aggregates, is the enjoyer, is a permanent entity, is not the agent, has no qualities, and has no function, possessing five distinctions. Some think of it as the agent and having function, and some think of it as the size of the body, and so on. The second is: the Vaibhashikas consider four or five knowable things to be truly existent, the Sautrantikas consider the two, meaning and consciousness, to be truly existent, and the Vijnanavadins consider the non-dual consciousness to be truly existent, and so on. The third is to consider the emptiness of the two, the grasper and the grasped, which are to be negated, to be truly existent. This also belongs to the category of the Vijnanavada view. The third extreme is to be overly attached to emptiness: some who pretend to be Madhyamikas, after negating the truly existent to be negated, think that the emptiness that is empty of truth is the ultimate reality of the object, so it is inevitable to be overly attached to it, which has been said before. Among these, the permanent self that non-Buddhists desire should be negated even in name, while the compounded impermanent multiple entities and emptiness alone should not be negated in name, but if they are considered to be truly existent, they should be negated. Because attachment to them will lead to bondage, they must be negated. With the ultimate analytical reasoning
