I am not. Thus, when the king meditates on selflessness, the clinging to self, the cycle of existence, will be cut off from its root. Thus, it is clearly stated. The second has three parts: refuting the thought of having no object to be refuted, showing the categories of existing objects to be refuted, and identifying the two selves that are the objects to be refuted in this context. The first is: Some say in debate and refutation: Since there is nothing to be refuted, I will not refute anything. Thus, for the Madhyamikas, there is nothing to be refuted, for if there were, it could not be refuted. This is unreasonable, for the intention of the scripture is to be understood in terms of reason, but in conventional terms, both the object to be refuted and the refuter must be accepted as mere illusions, for the scripture itself says: How does an illusion refute an illusion, or an illusory person refute an illusion? The refutation is also considered to be like that. Therefore, the object to be refuted on the path is the mind that clings to true existence or clings to the four extremes, and the object to be refuted by reason is all the bases on which the clinging to true existence arises, so these exist in conventional terms. For example, when clinging to true existence arises towards a pot, the pot itself must be sought and refuted in seven ways in its own parts. The object grasped by the mode of grasping of the clinging to true existence, which is established as true, is also an object to be refuted in conventional terms, as it is said: By becoming accustomed to the habit of emptiness, the habit of things will be abandoned, and by becoming accustomed to saying that there is nothing, that will also be abandoned later. And, seeing through conceptualization is bondage, so that should be refuted here. The second has two parts: the object to be refuted by the path and the object to be refuted by reason. The first is: Whatever is grasped in such a way that it binds the grasper to the cycle of existence, all the delusions of grasping existence or non-existence are to be refuted, because they generate the faults of the cycle of existence, and because the object of clinging is harmed by valid cognition, so it can be refuted, therefore, the wise should not abide in existence or non-existence. For the scripture has thus declared the refutation. The second has two parts: the mistaken conceptualization of clinging to the object of the cause, and the non-conceptual mistaken cognition of clinging to the object of appearance. The first is: In the time of the cause, it is understood by realizing the view, and the second is: In the time of the result, it is abandoned by becoming accustomed to the antidote, but here it is temporarily the first. Refuting it also

How does such a conceptualization eliminate the wrong conceptualization of clinging to it by blocking the two extremes of the object being examined? As it says, "The world arises from conceptualization, and conceptualization arises from the mind. Since the mind arises from the object, therefore, one should analyze the object." And, "Without refuting the object, one cannot abandon it." And, "If one sees selflessness in the object, the seed of samsara will cease." It is necessary to refute in this way, because it is said (in the scriptures) that (it requires) ability and refutation. The extremes to be refuted are also in the Madhyamaka treatises, which are summarized into one, shown as two, established as three, divided into four, and the first of the four is: "What is seen by conceptualization is bondage, this should be refuted here." This means that the object to which conceptualization clings is summarized into one, that is, all extreme clinging is included here. It also says, "Here, the cause of suffering, clinging to reality, should be stopped." This is also summarizing clinging to reality into one, which refers to the root of samsara. The second is, in the Ratnavali, it says, "The non-existent goes to the bad realms, the existent goes to the good realms, the one who truly understands reality does not rely on either and is liberated." Also, in the Root Verses, it says, "Saying 'exists' is clinging to permanence, saying 'does not exist' is seeing annihilation." This is also summarizing into two extremes of existence and non-existence, which refers to the common object to be refuted of the three vehicles, which in conventional terms is the extreme of denying non-existence, and in ultimate terms is the extreme of superimposing existence. Also, in the Praise of Dharmadhatu, it says, "If one sees the two kinds of selflessness, the seed of samsara will be cut off." Also, in the Introduction, it says, "This selflessness is for the liberation of beings, it is taught as two by distinguishing between phenomena and persons." This is also summarizing into the two selflessnesses of phenomena and persons, which has the same meaning as the previously mentioned cause of samsara that needs to be refuted. The third, as (the Commentary on Valid Cognition) says, "First, stop non-merit, in the middle, stop self, and after that, stop all views.", as it is said, the cause of non-virtue leads to the object of the annihilationist view of no result, and the two objects of the root of samsara, the clinging to self, the self and what belongs to self, and the object of the obstacle to omniscience, the clinging to characteristics, the mere elaboration, etc.
