Because there is no fear. As it is said: To the perfect Buddha who speaks, to that noble one, I prostrate. As it is said in the *Refutation of Disputes*: Whoever understands emptiness and dependent arising, as having the same meaning in the Middle Way, to that Buddha with the supreme and incomparable speech, I prostrate. So it is said. The intermediate speaker is like the protector Nāgārjuna, who directly realizes the ultimate truth of the nature of reality and teaches others without distortion. As it is said in the *Entering the Middle Way*: How he realized the most profound Dharma, through scripture and also reasoning, thus, from the system of the noble Nāgārjuna, I shall speak according to how it abides. So it is said. And in its commentary, it says that the Bodhisattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom, just as he sees the self-nature of all phenomena, so the noble Nāgārjuna, having known the scriptures without distortion, in the treatises of the Middle Way, with reasoning and scriptures, has very clearly shown the reality of all phenomena, which is characterized by no self-nature. So it is said. The last speaker is the learned person of ordinary beings. Its characteristics are: In the *Precious Garland*: The characteristics of those virtuous friends, know them in brief. Knowing the Dharma, having compassion, possessing morality, having wisdom to dispel afflictions. If you rely on them, you should know to respect them. Thus, it is said to have four characteristics. In the *Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life*: Always a virtuous friend, skilled in the meaning of the Great Vehicle, the supreme conduct of a Bodhisattva, will not abandon even for the sake of life. Thus, it is said to have two characteristics. Secondly, the first way of teaching by the speaker is to gradually lead in accordance with the thoughts, faculties, and predispositions of those to be trained, and finally to combine everything into emptiness. As it is said in the *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra*: Just as a doctor gives medicines to a sick person, so the Buddha teaches sentient beings as much Dharma as they can tolerate. So it is said. In the *Root Wisdom*: Whoever holds compassion closely, for the sake of abandoning all views, and teaches the supreme Dharma, to Gautama, I prostrate. So it is said. Secondly, the way of teaching by the second speaker is to the treatises made by others.

Without relying on others, but directly seeing the reality oneself, thereby teaching by freely interpreting the Buddha's words. Considering this, the Ratnagotravibhāga states: "If someone, regarding the teachings of the Buddhas as the only ones, speaks of the path to liberation with faith and without distraction, the words of such a righteous person should be received with the crown of one's head." Examples include the Five Treatises of Maitreya and Nagarjuna's Collection of Reasoning. The third type of speaker teaches in the following way: by generating definite understanding, through the three means of contradictory and related reasoning, reliable scriptural citations, and the guru's instructions. Based on the fact that disciples like to hear, contemplate, and meditate, they teach by establishing characteristics and practicing meditation. Based on the fact that disciples have sharp, medium, and dull faculties, they teach in brief, intermediate, and extensive ways. Based on the way they enter themselves, they teach through the three ways of preparation, main practice, and subsequent practice. The third is that the listener has two types: those with faults of the vessel and those with qualities. The first is stated in the root text: "If one views emptiness with wrong conceptions, it will destroy those of inferior wisdom, just like grasping a snake or practicing a mantra incorrectly, so one should carefully protect this distinction." And in the Ratnavali it says: "If one understands this Dharma in a reversed way, fools will be harmed by it, like viewing unreal things, they will sink into an impure state." This means that one has not left imprints on emptiness, or even if one has left imprints, one does not have the power to accumulate merit, and even if emptiness is taught, one thinks that its meaning does not exist at all, thereby generating distrust in emptiness, generating wrong views and abandoning the Dharma, or even in conventional terms, one thinks that there is no cause and effect, etc., thereby grasping it in a reversed way. In addition, there are the faults commonly mentioned in the scriptures, such as the vessel being upside down, the vessel having a hole in the bottom, and the vessel being poisonous. The second is divided into two types: the listener who establishes characteristics and the listener who practices meditation. The first is as stated in the Catuhsataka: "One who is upright, intelligent, and seeks meaning is said to be a vessel for listening." That is, one who is free from jealousy and anger towards the Dharma and individuals, whose mind is upright, and who has the wisdom to understand what is being taught.
