For the sake of (understanding) it must be so. For these also, it is important to know the key to refuting others, that is, for the sentient beings to be tamed, among the two truths shown before their minds, the ultimate truth is the nature of the ultimate truth seen by the noble ones in meditative equipoise, and they boast that it is real, clinging to what actually appears before them as being in accordance with it, considering that appearance and imputation are one, and using the term "ultimate truth." Fifth, ultimately, the two truths are inseparable, so the number cannot be determined. As it is said in the sutra: "The ultimate truth is only one, that is, the non-deceptive Dharma of Nirvana." And as it is said in the Sixty Stanza Reasoning: "Nirvana is the only truth." As it is said. When dividing and showing it before the sentient beings to be tamed, the number can be determined from four aspects: the subject, the object, the action, and the ability. First, as mentioned earlier, it is divided into two from the aspect of whether the mind of the subject is deluded or not. Second, for the same phenomenon of appearance such as form, it is true in the mind that has not been analyzed; if it is analyzed, it cannot be found, divided into two. Third, it is divided into two: bondage and liberation. Fourth, because it is the basis for accumulating the accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom, it enters the state of obtaining the two bodies, divided into two. Sixth, it is divided into two: the meaning of the word conventional truth and the meaning of the word ultimate truth. First, as it is said in the Clear Words: "Because it completely obscures, it is conventional, the ignorant obscure the reality of things, therefore it is called conventional. Also, because they depend on each other, it is conventional, that is, the meaning of depending on each other. Also, conventional is a name, that is, the expression of the world. This has the nature of the speaker and the spoken, the knower and the known, and so on." Among the three explanations mentioned here, the first explanation is: "Sam" in Sanskrit "Samvriti Satya" is "Samyak", which means correct; "Vriti" means to obscure, that is, to obscure the correct meaning, so the ignorance of clinging to reality that does not distinguish between the innate and the imputed is the characteristic of conventional, because it obscures the correct meaning. "Satya" is truth, because it appears as true before that mind, so it is truth. This meaning is in the Entering the Middle Way...

Because ignorance obscures the nature, it is conventional truth. Therefore, whatever appears falsely as true, the Buddha said that is conventional truth. As it is said in the Two Truths: "By what or to what, the real obscurer is considered conventional." The mentioned real obscurer matches the first one, so it seems that both Prasangika and Svatantrika agree. The second explanation is, "saṃ (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,together) is saṃkṣi (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,together)," which means relying or depending, and vṛtti (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,turn) means entering, that is, entering by relying or depending. The third explanation is, "saṃ (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,together) is saṃketa (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,agreement)," which means agreement, and vṛtti (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,turn) is as before, that is, entering by agreement, therefore it is conventional truth. The latter two seem to place the object in conventional truth, so the forms etc. that appear in the perspective of the post-attainment of the noble ones, the reality that has become false is conventional truth. When merely establishing it as conventional truth, this meaning of the word seems necessary, because the meaning of the word of the former conventional truth does not apply to this. In these two cases as well, when "satya (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,true)" is added, it is both entering by relying and true in the perspective of confused consciousness, therefore it is conventional truth; it is both entering by agreement and true in the perspective of confused consciousness, therefore it is conventional truth. Thus, by satisfying the consciousness that establishes what as true, the meaning of truth should be explained as before. The Svatantrika explains from the etymology of the real obscurer that exists in what knowledge, therefore it seems that even for the mere conventional truth that appears in the post-attainment of the noble ones, the etymology of the real obscurer is made. As it is said in the commentary on the Two Truths: "By what consciousness, or existing in what consciousness, that which obscures reality, such a thing that is known in the world is considered conventional truth." Secondly, the meaning of the word ultimate truth is parama artha satya (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,ultimate meaning truth), where parama (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,ultimate) is supreme, artha (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,meaning) is meaning, and satya (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,true) is truth. That is, the nature of phenomena that has become the object of the supreme wisdom of the noble ones is to be realized or to be examined, therefore there is no other that is more supreme than this meaning, therefore it is supreme, not deceiving, therefore it is truth, this is gathered by identity. As it is said in the Clear Words: "The meaning is also that, and the supreme is also that, so it is ultimate. That itself is truth, so it is ultimate truth." The Prasangika, however, uses this for things other than the ultimate object, and on this basis makes the etymological explanation of truth.
