The suchness, which is empty of the completely imputed on the dependent, is unconditioned, and the two pure dependents that are directly seen are also accepted as ultimate truth, so ultimate truth has both conditioned and unconditioned aspects. Then what distinguishes the two truths? If it is thought that they are distinguished by the door of apprehension, which becomes the cause of all afflictions and purification by truly apprehending what, then truly apprehending the impure dependent and the completely imputed becomes the cause of all afflictions, while truly apprehending the pure dependent and suchness becomes the cause of purification. In this Madhyamaka doctrine, as far as the object itself is concerned, even in the phenomena that cannot be divided into two truths, the two aspects of seeing, either the subject seeing falsely or seeing truly, or the two aspects of delusion and non-delusion, or the two aspects of ignorance and non-ignorance, or the two aspects of inversion and non-inversion, or the two aspects of valid and invalid cognition, are used to distinguish between conventional truth and ultimate truth. The first two are explicitly stated in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds: "All things are seen as truly false." In this case, the way the subject sees is used to establish the two aspects of truth and falsehood of the object, so there are the terms "seeing truly" and "seeing falsely." And the seeing of those objects is established as the two aspects of delusion and non-delusion of the subject, so the terms "seeing falsely" and "seeing truly" arise, because seeing falsely appears directly, so seeing truly is implied. The two aspects of delusion and non-delusion, ignorance and non-ignorance, are mentioned in the sutra: "All phenomena arising are conventional, in ultimate truth there is no self-nature, in no self-nature what delusion is there? That is considered the true conventional." And in the Compendium of the Heart of Wisdom it says: "The unreal emptiness is like space, abandoning the distinctions of existence, this is the supreme path to liberation, the abode of great delusion." And "That ultimate is like holy space, those whose minds are extremely ignorant, those phenomena in space, also become extremely ignorant." and so on. Inversion and non-inversion are mentioned in the Treatise on the Womb of the Tathagatas: "Ordinary beings see inverted, reversing the seeing of truth." And similarly, in the doctrines of the Madhyamaka school, the mind that sees the conventional has inversion.

There are very many instances of speaking nonsense. Regarding whether or not something is a valid means of cognition, the sutra says: Eyes, ears, and noses are not valid means of cognition. Tongues, bodies, and minds are not valid means of cognition. If these faculties were valid means of cognition, then what use would the noble path be to anyone? And so on. In its meaning, it is stated that if the world is a valid means of cognition, and so on. Then, there would be no valid means of cognition for measuring the conventional. If one also asserts that, then the Clear Words says: Therefore, it is in this way that the meaning of the world is discerned from the four valid means of cognition. If you say that this contradicts what was said, it is because it is a valid means of cognition in relation to the world, but it is not a valid means of cognition when the Madhyamikas themselves divide the two truths, because seeing a false object and the object's possessor being a valid means of cognition are contradictory. In this regard, the Svatantrikas and others divide the conventional itself into true and false, and thus in their own system they also assert that the object's possessor is both a valid and invalid means of cognition. This seems to be explained below in the context of the difference between the lower and upper. These also do not distinguish between whether or not the ultimate is a nominal entity, and do not distinguish between whether or not the object's possessor has dualistic appearance, but rather divide the two truths in a way that does not distinguish between them. If they are distinguished separately, then the two truths are divided from the perspective of becoming an object of consciousness and from the perspective of transcending the object of consciousness. As it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: The ultimate is not an object of consciousness, consciousness is said to be conventional. And so on. The sutra says: The ultimate truth even transcends the realm of the all-knowing. The fourth question is: In general, for all divisions into two, is it a difference of substance like a vase and cloth? Or is it a difference of opposites on the same entity, like something made and impermanent? Or is it a difference of names, like the moon and the one that emits cool rays? Or is it a difference of negating one, like existence and non-existence? This question needs to be examined, so the two truths also need to be examined. In this regard, the sutra presents the way of criticizing faults in one and different, and the refutation of others' examination of that meaning, and the establishment of a system that is reasonable. The first is, the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra speaks of four faults each in the positions of the two truths being one and different. The first is, if the two truths are one, then children directly see conventional forms, sounds, and so on, and likewise they would also
