The teaching of the Dharma is based on the two truths. It is said so because of this. Although the tenets of Madhyamaka are not explicitly stated here, they are explicitly stated in conventional terms. And although the two truths are inseparable, they are taught separately for the sake of taming sentient beings, etc. If the intentions of the scriptures and commentaries are connected from beginning to end, it seems that this is reasonable. The second is the two truths, which from the perspective of the subject's mind are the conventional truth and the ultimate truth. The former is divided into the worldly self-acknowledged truth and the false conventional truth. Furthermore, from the perspective of the means of realizing the ultimate truth and the arising of the means, it can be divided into the conventional truth and the ultimate truth, or the worldly conventional truth and the ultimate truth. As stated in the Clear Words, if one does not acknowledge the ultimate truth of worldly people, which has the characteristics of being able to speak, being spoken, being able to know, and being known, one cannot reveal the ultimate truth. If one does not reveal it, one cannot realize it. If one does not realize the ultimate truth, one cannot reach the city of Nirvana. To illustrate this point, it is said in the scriptures: Without relying on conventional terms, one cannot reveal the ultimate truth; without realizing the ultimate truth, one cannot attain Nirvana. Therefore, because it is the method of attaining Nirvana, just as a person who desires water needs a container, one must first acknowledge how the conventional is established without any hesitation. Thus it is said. Therefore, the way the conventional is established, the ultimate truth of worldly people, the conventional truth, the worldly self-acknowledged truth of the conventional, and the worldly conventional truth, these meanings are the same. If it is the conventional truth, then it cannot pervade these, because the defective sense consciousness and its objects, etc., cannot be those mentioned above. As stated in the Clear Words: If someone asks, what is worldly conventional, and from what is it distinguished in this way? Is there also a non-worldly conventional? Answer: This is said in accordance with the way things exist, and that kind of analysis is not applicable here. On the other hand, the inverted and distorted views caused by eye diseases such as cataracts, hairnets, blue light, and jaundice are not worldly, what is their conventional?

It is not the conventional truth, so it is different from the conventional truth. This is explained in detail in the Madhyamakavatara, so it should be understood from there. It is said, and in the Madhyamakavatara, it says, "The six unimpaired senses." etc., one verse, to show this reason. In short, the conventional truth that becomes the means to realize the ultimate truth is like how names are established in the world, such as seeds sprouting, so the conventional truth is the means, and the ultimate truth is born from the means. It is said. Moreover, that conventional truth also appears to be true in the face of confused consciousness, but it is not truly established. In order to understand this, the conventional truth is generally divided into two types, namely, correct conventional truth and inverted conventional truth. As the verse "The eye is covered by a membrane" etc. says. Third, the realists believe that because there are two dharmas, established and not established, in things themselves, they want to distinguish between the two truths. Among them, the two schools of the Hearers believe that the basis of imputation, the ultimate truth, is substantially existent, and the conventional truth that is interpreted is falsely established. For example, the Vaibhashika school believes that the basis of imputation, the five aggregates of knowable objects, is the substantially existent ultimate truth, and the pot, cloth, etc. and the person imputed to them are the conventional truth. The Sutra school believes that the basis of imputation, the meaning, consciousness, and self-character of objects are the ultimate truth, and the grossness, continuity, etc. imputed to them are the conventional truth. These schools believe that realizing the ultimate truth does not lead to liberation, because from the perspective of this world, the non-conceptual consciousness that measures self-character can directly see the ultimate truth. The Mind-Only school believes that the other-powered nature of the basis of imputation is the basis for establishing the two truths, and in this case, due to the effect of habits, the consciousness that appears as the grasper and the grasped is the other-powered nature, and the grasper and the grasped that are falsely established as they appear are both conventional truths, so there are two types of conventional truths: self-character established and not established.
