It has been extensively refuted in the Difficult Points of Entering the Way of the Bodhisattva, so please refer to that. Secondly, there are three aspects to the nature of ultimate truth: the manner in which its own nature cannot be shown as it is by characteristics, etc.; explaining the order and intention of showing it by imputing conventional truth; and actually explaining the nature of what is shown in that way. First: The ultimate truth cannot be shown by any characteristic or nature, etc., as it is experienced by the noble ones in meditative equipoise, in a manner that is free from elaboration, because it is not something that can be expressed by words, nor is it an object that can be taken by the mind. As it says in the sutra: Where there is no activity of mind, what need is there to mention letters in the ultimate truth? And: What is said is the opposite. In the commentary on this, the Clear Words says: If there were something to be said, then it would be something that could be shown, but when what is to be said is reversed and there is no object of words, then the Buddhas have not shown anything at all. And why is there nothing to be said? Because the object of the mind has been reversed. The object of the mind is the object of the mind. The object is the object, which is a synonym for the object of focus. If there were some object of the mind, then some reasons could be imputed there and words could enter. But when the object of the mind itself is not appropriate, how can reasons be imputed and how can words enter? And why is there no object of the mind? Because it has been taught: Unborn and unceasing, the nature of phenomena is the same as nirvana. Because the nature of phenomena that is unborn and unceasing, that is, the essence of phenomena and the nature of phenomena, is established as being the same as nirvana, therefore the mind does not enter into it. If the mind does not enter, how can reasons be imputed, and because there is none of that, how can words enter? Therefore, the Buddhas have not shown anything at all, and that is where it remains. That is what it says. Second: If you think that sentient beings will have no means of realizing the ultimate truth, then in order for sentient beings to realize it, conventional truth is imputed to what is expressed by words and to the object of the mind.

It is established and declared that all is real and not real. In the former commentary of "Clear Words," it says: In "Clear Words," it says: Although it is not the case that speech and mind enter into it, even so, if it is not declared, then the beings to be tamed will not be able to understand. In order to make the beings to be tamed enter into it, it is necessary to rely on the conventional truth, and there must be some order of declaring it. Therefore, it should be declared. If someone asks: Then, in this declaration, it should be known that the order of declaration by which the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, enter into the nectar of suchness is like this. And in the former commentary of "Not known from others, peacefulness," it says: Although it is like that, even so, according to the worldly nominal commitment, on the level of nominal truth, it is also necessary to establish and declare its characteristics. If someone asks: Then, it should be declared, because it is said so. So, what is the order of such declaration? First, for those who think that there is no action and result, in order to make them hold the action and result as real and enter into the behavior of acceptance and rejection, it is declared that all aggregates, elements, and sources are real. Then, because grasping at reality is the cause of suffering, in order to prevent it, it is declared that all is not real. Then, in order to make them know that such existence and non-existence are also on the level of their respective minds, it is declared that both are. Then, in order to make them know that there is no elaboration in the presence of the noble equipoise, it is declared that neither is. As it is said in the "Root Wisdom Treatise on the Middle Way": All is real and not real, the nature of real and not real, not real and not not real, this is the teaching of the Buddha. And, the meaning of "following the teaching" is said to be both declaring in order and declaring in accordance with the intention of the beings to be tamed. Similarly, one should not say "emptiness" either. In its explanation, it says: All these should not be declared, but if they are not declared, then the thinkers will not be able to truly know the nature of abiding as it is. Therefore, we abide on the conventional truth, and for the sake of nominal meaning, on the level of the beings to be tamed, we further increase the establishment, and also say emptiness, and also say non-emptiness, and also say both emptiness and non-emptiness, and also say neither emptiness nor
