Relying on this, one should generate three kinds of virtuous minds. Third, transforming the circumstances of sentient beings into the path means that one should rejoice in the excellent ones who possess perfect results and practice good causes; one should cultivate compassion for the inferior ones who have declining results and engage in bad causes. In particular, one should be grateful to those who benefit oneself, abandon attachment, and perform virtuous deeds to repay the kindness of the Dharma; one should benefit those who harm oneself, regard them as deluded, and cultivate loving-kindness and compassion, thereby transforming them into the path. One should also regard the vessel world as the result of the karma of sentient beings, and if one sees something good, one should accumulate karma corresponding to it; if one sees something bad, one should generate compassion and make it a condition for oneself to accomplish the pure Buddha-land. Third, being skilled in increasing virtue means being cautious about regret, reproach, root downfalls, and wrong practices in special situations, which cause virtue to be exhausted; one should rejoice in the virtuous deeds done by oneself and others; one should continuously increase the giving of virtue. Third, being skilled in accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings means being skilled in subduing those who are to be tamed by possessing both wisdom and means, and being skilled in taming beings with a gentle mind and harsh actions. Third, one should be mindful of what to accept and reject, that is, one should guard the precepts one has vowed to keep with mindfulness, awareness, and a sense of shame and embarrassment as the forerunners, and with the mindfulness of stopping evil and doing good, and one must learn in order not to lose the position one has attained. As it is said in the scriptures: All that is called virtuous Dharma, its root is mindfulness. And so on, there are many teachings in the scriptures. Through these, merely generating faith in emptiness is already mainly accumulating the accumulation of merit through the method of contemplating the relative truth. Now, secondly, in order to mainly accumulate the accumulation of wisdom through the wisdom that contemplates the ultimate truth, there are three points: the function of wisdom depends on calm abiding and insight, therefore one should first generate calm abiding and insight, and after calm abiding and insight are accomplished, one should cultivate wisdom. The first point is: through the superior insight that possesses excellent calm abiding and insight, knowing that it can completely destroy afflictions, therefore one should first seek calm abiding and insight, and this

As it is said, without Samadhi, the body and mind will be weakened, and even virtuous deeds such as recitation will be less powerful. With only the wisdom of hearing and thinking, one cannot taste the essence of emptiness, nor abandon afflictions, so the power of self-benefit is small. Without clairvoyance, one cannot benefit others, so at the beginning, one should seek the quiescence (Shamatha) that makes the mind workable. With this in mind, the order of the latter two trainings and the latter two Paramitas is also taught in this way. The second has three parts: dwelling in the assembly of quiescence, generating proximity from it, and generating the actual practice of meditation from it. The first has three parts: the place where to practice, the companion with whom to practice, and the order of what to do. The first is: the place is blessed and auspicious, agreeable, and free from noise and harm. The companion relies on a Lama who has the experience of Samadhi, or one who is in accordance with it. The order of what to do there is: abandoning all worldly affairs and all discursive thoughts of desire and harmful thoughts, making offerings to the special support that is enshrined, making Torma to the Dharma protectors and spirits, averting obstacles through prayers and recitations, and eliminating obstacles to birth through purifying sins and obscurations through the hundred-syllable mantra of the Tathagata. The three doors of body, speech, and mind rely on the conduct of the holy ones, living on suitable food, and showing the harmonious cause through the yoga of the upper and lower parts of the night. At all times, being mindful and aware, one should not let the foundation of discipline and other skillful means be diminished. The second has three parts: identifying the distinctions of the object of focus, the method of placing the mind on it, and the signs of having achieved it well. The first is: in general, it is said that one can focus on any object. It is said that even focusing on a beautiful support such as a blue flower, which is neither too close nor too far, and does not move, can give rise to it. However, since the scriptures praise the arising of blessings, in general, the outward appearance is a statue of a deity, and in particular, focusing on cessation and contemplation and loving-kindness and compassion, and the inner view is focusing on the skeleton of one's own body and the channels and energies that rely on the body, etc. Two methods are explained, and here in the Sutra it says: "The body is like the color of gold."
