These are to be known by three aspects. First, generosity is the mind associated with the intention of giving. It is divided into three types: material generosity, fearlessness generosity, and Dharma generosity. Discipline is the mind that abandons wrongdoing. It is divided into three types: the discipline of abstaining from misconduct, the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Patience is the mind that can endure. It is divided into three types: patience that is not disturbed by harm, patience that accepts suffering, and patience that is certain about the Dharma. Diligence is the mind that rejoices in virtue. It is divided into three types: armor-like diligence, applying diligence, and diligence that is not content. Samadhi is single-pointed concentration. It is divided into three types: samadhi that dwells happily in the present life, samadhi that accomplishes qualities, and samadhi that benefits others. Wisdom is the wisdom that understands ultimate reality. It is divided into three types: wisdom that is encompassed by the three aspects of non-conceptual application, actualization, and subsequent attainment. These also need to possess the four qualities, such as the decline of opposing factors, to become perfections, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras. Why is it called Pāramitā? Because the Sanskrit word "Pāramitā" (Tibetan: པཱ་ར་མི་ཏ་) refers to excellence, utmost, supreme, and reaching the other shore, therefore virtuous dharmas are both excellent, utmost, and supreme, and they are what enable crossing over or the ultimate destination to be crossed, hence it is called "perfection." Among these, establishing as excellent, as explained in the commentary on the Compendium, possesses the three excellences of nature, means, and result; in the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, it is said to possess the five excellences of non-attachment, non-regard, faultlessness, non-conceptualization, and dedication; in the Abhidharmasamuccaya, it is said to possess the six excellences of place, object, purpose, skillful means, and pure dedication; in the Madhyāntavibhāga, it is said: "Vastness and long duration, purpose and inexhaustibility, continuous non-interruption, effortless and freedom, comprehensive and creative, attainment and conformity, accomplishment is considered excellent.", that is, possessing the twelve excellences; furthermore, the Golden Light Sutra also speaks of possessing twenty excellences, and so on. Second, the certainty of these has numerical certainty, sequential certainty, and benefit.

Among the three certain ways, the first is: In the Uttaratantra, in order to accomplish Buddhahood, it explains the way of certainty through the example of a painter. In the Ornament of the Sutras, in order to accomplish higher rebirth and definite goodness, it explains five ways, including six certain ways, and one should look into those places. The second is: the order of cause and effect arising from the previous to the later, the order of easy and difficult to understand, coarse and subtle, and the order of inferior and superior, there are three. The third is: each of these has six complete, which is certain by nature; doing each thing has six complete, which is certain by combination; doing each thing produces six complete, which is certain by reason. Third, regarding the fruit, there are individual fruits and common fruits. The first, each has five fruits, namely: the fruit of what a person does, benefiting oneself and others; the fruit of the owner, producing merit; the fruit of separation, abandoning unfavorable aspects such as stinginess; the fruit of maturation, enjoyment, etc.; the fruit of correspondence, giving, etc., will become doing that previous action. The common fruit is: if everything is dedicated, like the water of the great ocean, it will become the one taste of complete enlightenment. Third, dedication is transforming the accumulated virtue into the desired meaning. There are also four aspects to this: the object of dedication is all the virtue gathered by the two accumulations, including everything done in the past, what is being done now, and what is intended to be done in the future. The mind of the dedicator is combined with the wisdom, thought, and intention that know how the place of dedication is. The place of dedication is the state of complete Buddhahood, which completely fulfills the benefit of oneself and others for the sake of liberating all sentient beings. The way of how to dedicate is: in the presence of the actual dwelling or mentally visualized object of offering, first perform the six preliminary branches such as prostration and offering, and then recite the "King of Aspiration Prayers of Excellent Conduct" which contains countless hundreds of thousands of great aspirations. Or recite the ten great aspiration kings that include all of these. Or dedicate through reciting the pure and stainless words of the Buddha's teachings and treatises. This is also doing good deeds
