As the basis of dependence. Although it is not accomplished by the seven aspects, without investigation, only from this world, it is established by relying on its own limbs. As it is said: If one seeks a chariot with seven aspects, it is truly unattainable, but in a state of non-investigation, one establishes a chariot relying on its own limbs. The reason why the self is established by relying on the aggregates is also the same. Therefore, the self established by relying on a basis is also the conventional truth that is unique to the Madhyamaka school. As the *Entering the Middle Way* says: This is accomplished by the combination of aggregates and so on. In its commentary, it says: How "this arises by relying on that," only this much should be established as the aspect of conventional truth, and should not be cut off. Just as it does not arise from causes such as the absence of acceptance, so too, here, if one truly relies on establishment, then the aspect of having faults as previously stated is eliminated, and in order to make worldly expressions abide in this way, one should accept that it is established by relying on the aggregates, because one sees the expression of establishing it as self. Thus it is proclaimed. Here, the self-affirming proponents of our own school and the Madhyamikas are similar in that they both accept the establishment of a person, but the difference between whether or not the basis of establishment needs to be substantially existent leads to the difference between the establishment of existence not being established and being established, which should be understood as before. Fourth, showing the order of refutation, such as in the *Commentary on the Awakening Mind* and the *Essence of Wisdom, Collected from All*, etc., the way in which the permanent self established by the outsiders is refuted step by step up to the non-dual consciousness desired by the Mind-Only school is done in conjunction with the order of philosophical tenets, and is done for the sake of easy explanation, and it is not necessary for each individual to be trained in that order. This is because, except for those who are highly respected, there is no need to refute the self of a person in front of the Vaibhashikas, and there is no need to refute non-associated formations and unconditioned substantially existent things in front of the Sautrantikas, and there is no need to refute substantially existent forms in front of the Mind-Only school. So, how can those who have not entered a philosophical system become a vessel for showing the ultimate truth? There is no certainty about this either. As the *Entering the Middle Way* itself says: That is the near cause for showing that, to that ultimate truth.

Should be established. It says, "That is not born from itself, nor from others, why look elsewhere?" etc. For those capable of being tamed, the Dharma of selflessness of phenomena, which prevents the four extremes of arising and ceasing of external and internal objects, is also taught first. Again, it says: "That which is not found by the sevenfold analysis, how can the yogi find existence in it? By this, one easily enters into that very thing, therefore, its establishment should be desired here in that way." And in its commentary it says: "For a yogi who is close to realization, if there were some inherently established entity called a chariot, then undoubtedly it would be found to possess one of the seven aspects, but it is not found. Therefore, the so-called chariot is merely imputed by those who have been deluded by the cataract of ignorance, and it is not an inherently established existence. One should generate such certainty, and the yogi will easily enter into that very reality." As it is said, first, when searching for a person in the aggregates with seven aspects, one does not find it, and then one enters into the reality of the aggregates being unborn. It is also for this reason. Thus, in the two stages, for the first case, the reasoning of searching for a person with seven aspects is not necessary. For when one realizes that the aggregates are not true, the person imputed based on them will also be realized as untrue. As it is said in the Ratnavali: "Having known the aggregates to be untrue in that way, one will abandon the clinging to self. Having abandoned the clingers to self, later the aggregates will not arise." For the latter case, merely realizing that the person is an imputed existence, for those with sharp faculties, through that very reasoning, they will realize that the aggregates are not true. However, for those with dull faculties, there is still a need for reasoning to prove the aggregates as unreal. Therefore, as stated in the Bodhicaryavatara, applying the previous reasoning, one should not find it even up to the subtle particles, or as explained in the context of establishing the selflessness of phenomena, one must definitely use the reasoning of the vajra slivers and so on to establish unreality. Otherwise, because it enters by focusing on form, there will be attachment.
