Therefore, some who believe that "I" is real, believe that "I" is permanent. There are also some who believe that "I" cannot be said to be either permanent or impermanent. In this way, the later arising of "I" would also become causeless, because the "I" of the creator is simultaneous with the (created) thing, so the previous creator did not exist prior. It is said that the word "འང་" (also) is explained here as the meaning of distinguishing and observing. Some people emphasize the meaning of the word "འང་" (also), which is inconsistent with the explanation. Third, refuting one by one the four views of whether "I" existed, did not exist, both, or neither in the past: All those views that observe whether "I" existed, did not exist, both, or neither in the past are unreasonable. As mentioned above, because "I" does not have a separate existence or non-existence in the past, both are unreasonable. Since both of the things to be negated do not exist, neither is unreasonable. Second, refuting the four views of arising, etc., that rely on the future boundary: All those views that believe that "I" will arise, will not arise, both arise and do not arise, or neither arise nor not arise at some time in the future are unreasonable. Because this is the same as the reasoning for refuting the four views of arising, etc., in the past. How is it the same? "The statement that it will arise in the future is also unreasonable. Among the future dharmas, what has already arisen is not this (I)." And "The statement that it will not arise in the future is also unreasonable. What has already arisen in the future is not other than this (I)." And so on, it should be inferred in this way. Third, refuting the four views of permanence, etc., that rely on the previous boundary is divided into two parts: elaborately explaining the refutation and briefly explaining the refutation. The first part has four points: refuting permanence, refuting impermanence, refuting both, and refuting neither. First point: When a person becomes a deva by doing good deeds, if this deva is the same as the previous person, then this deva becomes permanent, but because it is not the previous person, the statement that the world is permanent is unreasonable. Furthermore, if the deva is permanent, then it will become unborn, because permanent things have no birth or death. Second point: If the later deva is indeed different from the previous person, then the continuum of the previous person is impermanent, that is, it is annihilated.
