It is the body of transformation. The end is the last part of passing from one life to another. Dependence is focusing on it. The second part is divided into two: explaining wisdom in detail and summarizing the main points. The first part is divided into four: refuting the four views of arising, etc., that rely on the previous end, refuting the four views of arising, etc., that rely on the subsequent end, refuting the four views of permanence, etc., that rely on the previous end, and refuting the four views of permanence, etc., that rely on the subsequent end. The first part is divided into three: refuting that I exist in the previous time, refuting that I do not exist in the previous time, and refuting the four cases of I exist and do not exist, and neither exist nor do not exist. The first part is divided into three: refuting the existence of the self of the receiver, refuting whether it is one with or other than the object to be received, and summarizing the main points of these two. The first point is: saying "I have existed in the past time" is unreasonable, because the one who existed in the previous life is not this present self. If someone thinks that the previous self becomes the present self, that is also unreasonable, because then the previous aggregate of grasping and the present aggregate of grasping would become one, and being one is also unreasonable, because the previous and subsequent aggregates of grasping are different. If someone says that the aggregates of grasping are different, but I am one, that is also unreasonable, because what self do you have other than the aggregates of grasping? Because there is none. The second part is divided into two: refuting the view that it is one with the object to be received, and refuting the view that it is other than it. The first point is: when saying "there is no self other than the aggregates of grasping," some of our own schools think that the aggregates of grasping themselves are the self. Then, for the self that you realists think of, it is non-existent, because you think that the collection of aggregates of grasping is the self, and it is not the self, because the collection of aggregates of grasping is arising and ceasing, so it does not have the characteristics of the self that you think of. Furthermore, how can the aggregate of grasping become the grasper? It will not become. In that case, there will be many faults, such as the agent and the object becoming one, etc. The second point is: if other schools think that I exist outside of the aggregates of grasping, then, I and the aggregates of grasping are

This is unreasonable. If the self is different from the aggregates of appropriation, then I should be able to be apprehended even without the aggregates of appropriation, but I cannot be apprehended. Third, summarizing the meaning of these two: As mentioned above, the self is neither different from the aggregates of appropriation, nor is it the aggregates of appropriation themselves. I also cannot be established without the aggregates of appropriation. Nor is the self necessarily merely a designation, because I am named in dependence on the aggregates. Second, refuting non-arising, divided into two: refuting with the reason that the present self is not other, and refuting with the reason that the present self is not newly arisen. The first is: saying that I exist by nature in the past time as a non-arisen entity is also unreasonable. Because this present self is not other than the self that arose in previous lives. If the present self were proven to be different from the past self, then the present self should also arise without depending on the past self. Moreover, the previous self should, like its own time, remain without ceasing even when the later self is born. Moreover, one would be born in this life without dying in the previous life, because there is such a fault. Furthermore, the previous self should be annihilated, because the later self is born as a different thing after the previous self has perished. The deeds done previously would also be wasted, because at the time of the maturation of karma, the self that performed the action perishes and the self that experiences the maturation of karma is born as a different thing. Furthermore, the maturation of karma of deeds done by others would be experienced separately by others, because the previous self was done by others and the later self is experienced by a different thing. Therefore, it would also lead to encountering the fruit of uncreated karma, etc., because the different later one, other than the actor, experiences the maturation of karma. The second is: if it is said that the present self, different from the previous self, is born here, then a different self will not newly arise later from what was previously unborn, because this will lead to many faults. How so? The self will become caused, because I am newly arisen from what was previously unborn. If you admit it, that would contradict the commitment.
