A Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way: The Light of Correct View. A Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way: The Light of Correct View. A work entitled "A Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way: The Light of Correct View" is presented. A Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way: The Light of Correct View. I respectfully prostrate to the Lama and the supreme deity, the protector Manjushri. To all the Buddhas of infinite realms, Though you are the father who measures the ocean of enlightened intent, Manjushri, who holds the manner of a youthful prince, Reside in the lotus of my heart and protect my mind. The fire of wisdom has burned all the fuel of knowable things, The peaceful body, clear as a wish-fulfilling tree, is the cause of worldly prosperity. The body of common cause emanates countless forms from the pores of its skin at once. The supreme emanation shows the path of peace, I bow to that powerful one. In the midst of the ocean of intelligence, with the light of correct view, Completely dispel the darkness of the mind, both imputed and innate. The assembly of arrows of speech, well-versed in the art of conquering the three realms, I prostrate with my head to Nagarjuna, the second Buddha. Whose excellent speech, like moonlight, Illuminates Nagarjuna's immaculate thought, like a garden of white lotuses, Whose fame as the seer of ultimate meaning is bright, I bow my head to him. Opening the hundred petals of the lotus of intelligence, With the honey of profound meaning, satisfying the fortunate assembly of bees, Possessing pure activity, I also prostrate to the assembly of learned holders. That which, when realized, destroys existence, And opens the door to the three definitive perfections of enlightenment, Being the basis of all Madhyamaka treatises, I am pleased to write a commentary called Wisdom. Here, those who wish to enter the city of liberation by relying on the ladder to higher realms should abide in the discipline motivated by the thought of fundamental renunciation, and with the view established by hearing and thinking, and with the samadhi of single-pointed meditation, they should strive for the reality of the four truths. As the teacher himself said: Liberation depends on myself; in this, there is no other who can be a helper. Those who possess hearing, discipline, and meditation should strive for the four noble truths.

Thus it is said. Regarding this view, one must also refute or abandon the views of those with worldly innate wisdom who believe that phenomena and individuals exist inherently, as well as the views of outsiders who believe that there is an individual different from the aggregates, and even the views of the Mind-Only school who believe that there is non-dualistic wisdom or the Tathagatagarbha. As it is said in the Commentary on the Mind of Enlightenment: The Buddhas' mind of enlightenment is not obscured by the thoughts of self, aggregates, or consciousness; it always establishes emptiness as its characteristic. And in this treatise it is said: The Victorious Ones say that emptiness is the definite arising of all views. And it is said: In order to abandon all views, the holy Dharma is taught. Therefore, the view that should be adopted without error is: If it is not realized, it is the basis of the Dharma of samsara; if it is realized properly, it is the basis of the Dharma of nirvana. Knowing that the proliferation of knowable objects, knowing subjects, etc., is pacified, and that only appearance continues uninterruptedly, like an illusion that appears as non-existent, if one examines it in this way, then no basis or root can be found. Its function is to destroy existence, and it is established as the term emptiness from the perspective of those to be tamed. This is it. As it is said: Therefore, the basis of all phenomena is peaceful and like an illusion; this emptiness, which is the destroyer of existence without a basis, should always be meditated upon. On this, also, after negating the object to be negated, such as birth, one considers it as unborn, as emptiness. And meditating on the aspect of negation, such as selflessness, is clinging to extremes and is therefore extremely base. As it is said: Unborn, emptiness, and selflessness are called emptiness; whoever meditates on the inferior self does not meditate on that. Therefore, to meditate properly on emptiness, one must ascertain it through hearing and thinking about the words of the Middle Way and the treatises. Since ordinary beings cannot independently understand the intent of the Buddha's words without relying on treatises, they must rely on treatises, and that too, on treatises composed by extraordinary accomplished ones blessed by dakinis and extraordinary panditas prophesied by the Buddhas, in order to understand the intent of the Buddha's words. As the glorious Great Compassionate One said: Nagarjuna and others who were prophesied,
