Not born from the three, equal to the existence or non-existence of the object. First, for an object or basis that has become inverted, inversion is not possible, because its function has ceased and it is meaningless. For those that have not become inverted, inversion is also not possible, because its function has not arisen and they are mutually contradictory. For those that are in the process of becoming inverted, inversion is not possible, because there is no becoming inverted other than having become inverted and not having become inverted. Therefore, in what object or basis of a person is inversion possible? One should thoroughly discern with wisdom that has become impartial. When examined in this way, one does not find one who possesses inversion. Furthermore, if inversions have not arisen, how can one who possesses them exist? Thus, since inversions do not arise and are non-existent, how can there be one who possesses inversions? That too is established as non-existent because it has not arisen. Second, the entities of inversions do not arise from themselves, nor do they arise from others. If they do not arise from both self and other, how can there be one who possesses inversions? Since they are non-existent because they have not arisen, it has already been explained that one who possesses them is not established. Third, if there is self, purity, permanence, and happiness in the aggregates of grasping, then grasping at self, purity, permanence, and happiness is not inversion, because one grasps at what exists as existing. If there is no self, purity, permanence, and happiness in the aggregates to be grasped, then grasping at no-self, impurity, impermanence, that is, non-eternal, and suffering is also not non-inversion, because since the objects to be negated, such as self, do not exist, the no-self, etc., that negate them also do not exist. Second, the result of that negation is that if inversions are examined in this way and cannot be found, then grasping at inversions will cease, because since the object of clinging is not found, the mind that clings turns back, which is the nature of reason. When inversions cease, ignorance also ceases, because it depends on inversions. When the cause, ignorance, ceases, then its results, such as formations, and ultimately the entire mass of suffering ending in old age and death, will cease without remainder.

For without a cause, there will be no result. Thus, if one examines what is inverted, it has great significance, for by examining it, the cause and effect of samsara will cease. Second, refuting the establishment of its basis by antidotes: If it is like that, since there are antidotes to abandon ignorance and so forth, those also must exist, for what does not exist cannot be abandoned like a lotus in the sky. If one abandons by antidotes, does one abandon something that exists by nature or something that does not exist? If the afflictions of some individuals, such as desire, exist by nature, how can they be abandoned? Because they exist by nature. The pervasion is: Who abandons what exists by nature? If the afflictions of some individuals, such as desire, do not exist by nature, then how can they be abandoned by nature? Because they do not exist by nature. The pervasion is: Who abandons what does not exist? Second, combining with scripture: As it is said, in the Noble King of Samadhi Sutra also: Form also shows enlightenment, Enlightenment also shows form, With dissimilar words, Well speaks the teacher of the Dharma. Speech is the teacher of form, The nature of profound things, Form and enlightenment are equal, One does not find that difference. Nirvana is also very profound, As speech well reveals, Nirvana cannot be seen, Its speech is also not seen. Speech and Nirvana, Both are not found, Thus in the empty dharmas, Well speaks of peaceful Nirvana. Nirvana and the one who transcends, Nirvana cannot be seen, This is where all dharmas do not enter, How it is later is also the same as before. All dharmas by nature, Are equal and undifferentiated with Nirvana, Those beings who strive in the Buddha's teachings, Will realize those things. Thus it is said. Similarly, with wisdom, one knows the aggregates are empty, having known, one does not associate with afflictions, only through the door of speech does one explain what is to be said, like Nirvana, one should examine this world. Thus it is said, the way of showing is the same as before. Third, indicating the name of the treatise: Fundamental Wisdom
