Venerable Chandrakirti said, "Whatever is praised by the world, is established based on worldly conventions." Just as it is said in the scriptures, the "world" here also refers to the person or individual, so it is necessary to mention the "world" as the basis. Because the non-Buddhists take the person as the special basis for the ego-grasping, and at this time they ask about the fourteen characteristics. Similarly, the third set of four views regarding whether the Tathagata exists after death, does not exist, is both, or is neither, the Tathagata does not possess any of these. Because those who believe that the Tathagata inherently exists from the time of appearance, they are bound by strong attachments, and when the Tathagata enters nirvana, they will think with inverted discriminations that the previous Tathagata has ceased, so it does not exist. As said before, since the Tathagata is inherently empty from the time of appearance, then after the Tathagata enters nirvana, to think that the Tathagata exists as real, or does not exist as real after disappearing, or is both, or is neither, these thoughts are unreasonable. Therefore, whether the body and life are one or different is also unreasonable, so all fourteen unexplained views are unreasonable. Second, those who think that the Buddha transcends the realm of words and concepts, and that emptiness is inherently empty, without recent cessation, but with inverted discriminations, use various elaborations such as empty and non-empty, permanent and impermanent, omniscient and non-omniscient to elaborate, all these people will not be able to see and obtain the perfect qualities of the Tathagata, because they cling to the Tathagata who is free from elaboration with words and concepts, so they have lost the eye of wisdom to see the reality of the Tathagata. Third, comparing this wisdom with other dharmas: Thus, by revealing that the person of the Tathagata is without self-nature, it also reveals that the container and sentient world is also without self-nature. Because what is the ultimate nature of the Tathagata, then this is the ultimate nature of the container and sentient world. The Tathagata does not have any self-nature established in the ultimate sense, and is purified from the beings to be tamed.

In terms of the illusion of appearance, it is established as a false illusion, and solely because of this, the ultimate nature of this world of containers and contents is not established in any way. Because in terms of the illusion of appearance, such appearance is false, established like an illusion. Second, combining with scripture: The sutra says: The ever-unborn Dharma is the Tathagata, all Dharmas are like the Sugata. Those with childish minds who grasp at signs, in this world, practice non-existent Dharmas. The Tathagata, without outflows, is like an image of virtuous Dharma. Here, there is neither Suchness nor Tathagata, all the world sees only the image. And in the Bhagavati-mata Sutra, it says: Then, those gods said to the venerable Subhuti: Holy Subhuti, do you say that the perfectly enlightened Buddha is also like an illusion? Is the perfectly enlightened Buddha himself like an illusion, like a dream? Subhuti said: Gods, if I say that Nirvana is also like a dream, like an illusion, what need is there to mention other Dharmas? The gods said: Holy Subhuti, do you say that Nirvana is also like an illusion, like a dream? Subhuti said: Gods, if I were to say that there is some Dharma that is even more excellent than Nirvana, I would also say that it is like an illusion, like a dream. Thus, these dreams and Nirvana are non-dual, they cannot be made into two. Thus it is proclaimed, and the method of teaching is the same as before. Third, revealing the name of the treatise: In the commentary on the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way, "The Light of Correct View," it says: This is called "Examination of the Tathagata," which is the explanation of the twenty-second chapter. Second, refuting the reversal of cause and effect, there are three points. First, the connection of the treatise: Here, even if the result of the stream of existence, the Tathagata, is negated, the stream of existence still exists. As it is said: Ignorance conditions action, action conditions consciousness, grasping conditions existence, existence conditions birth. In this way, its main cause is affliction.
