Because it is the selflessness of the taker, to whom does the taker belong? Third, summarizing the meaning of these two is: Thus, because the taken and the taker are mutually dependent, the self of the taker does not exist prior to seeing, etc., because there is no cause to establish it as a self. It does not exist together now either, because they are not established separately, and it would become mutually independent. It does not exist later either, because if the taken were established before the taker, it would become causeless. Similarly, the self of the taker and the taken, etc., which are not established before, after, or together, that they exist inherently, who with wisdom would speculate? If you think they do not exist? No, the examination of those existing inherently is only a negation, who would speculate that they do not exist? If you do not find it by analyzing with reason, then the speculations of its existence or non-existence, etc., will all be reversed. Second, to explain by combining with the scriptures: In the 《Samadhiraja Sutra》 it says: At that time, the sinless one with the ten powers, the Victorious One will explain this supreme Samadhi. Sentient beings are like dreams, in this there is no birth or death. Sentient beings, people, and life cannot be found, these dharmas are like bubbles and water foam. Like illusions, like lightning in the sky, like the moon in the water, like mirages. Some people die in this world, although they migrate to other worlds, there is nowhere to go. The actions done are never wasted, in samsara, black and white fruits ripen. It is not constant, nor does it become annihilation, the accumulated karma is neither existent nor abiding. Although it has been done, it is not untouchable, nor is there any feeling of what others have done. There is no migration, nor is there a return, everything is neither existent nor non-existent. This is not a place of seeing, entering, or purification, the conduct of sentient beings is peaceful without entering. The realm of the Sugata, the qualities of the Victorious One, is the realm of unborn, peaceful, and signless. Powers and dharanis, and the power of the ten powers, this is the supreme of the excellent Buddhas. Etc., it is said like this, the way of teaching should be understood as before. Third is: The commentary on the 《Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way》 again

In the light of pure view, this is called the examination of what exists beforehand, which is a commentary on the ninth chapter of the Distinguishing the Blazing. Secondly, there are three refutations of its proof: refuting the example of fire and wood, refuting the action of cyclic existence, and refuting the basis of suffering. The first has three parts: If one thinks that the connection of the Distinguishing the Blazing is that the aggregates of grasping and the self of the grasper, although mutually dependent, do not contradict inherent existence, just as fire and wood, although mutually dependent, have the inherent existence of what is burned and what burns. In order to show that the example of fire and wood themselves are not established by nature, this Distinguishing the Blazing is established. Secondly, there are two divisions of the text of the Distinguishing the Blazing: The first, establishing by reasoning, also has three parts: refuting the inherent establishment of fire and wood, comparing this reasoning to other phenomena, and disparaging the view for the sake of refutation. The first has three parts: refuting the nature of fire and wood, refuting its proof, and summarizing the meaning of both. The first has two parts: refuting establishment as one, and refuting establishment as other. The first is: If fire and wood exist inherently, then is their nature one or different? If the wood to be burned and the fire that burns are the same, established as one, then the agent and the action will become one in nature, because the reason is the same. This cannot be accepted, because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself, and also the potter and the pot would become one in nature. Secondly, there are two parts: refuting by becoming a fault of non-dependence, and refuting by becoming a fault of non-encounter. The first has two parts: establishing the fault, and refuting the avoidance of the fault. The first is: If the nature of fire is different from wood, then it will also arise without depending on wood, because it is different from wood. Furthermore, fire will always burn whether wood exists or not. The burning does not arise from the cause, and the effort becomes meaningless. If this is the case, then action will also become non-existent. Showing that, the cause of burning will not arise from wood, because it is different, pervasively established, because the cause is different from wood, therefore it does not depend on wood, and because it does not depend, the burning does not arise from the cause of burning, wood.
