Even if there is no desire, there is still attachment, and this cannot be examined. Because the attachment of whether desire existed before or not, this unreasonable order, also depends on the dependent attachment. Is desire considered to exist before? Or is it considered not to exist? If you examine it and say, if before desire, etc., reciting (these), it is equally unreasonable because of the translation. Second, there are two ways to refute simultaneous establishment: refuting by being too excessive in not relying on each other; refuting by relying on one and different. First, the Lesser Vehicle School says that the two are not produced one after the other, but in the way of "simultaneous arising, which is the mutual result", they are the cause and effect of simultaneous arising, so they exist by nature. If you say so, desire and attachment cannot arise simultaneously. The reason is that if they arise simultaneously like this, like the left and right horns, desire and attachment will become independent of each other. Second, there are two types: general refutation of simultaneous one and different; separate refutation of simultaneous different. First, think a little, are desire and attachment the same entity, or a different entity, to contemplate simultaneously. If it is like the first type, then the two do not have simultaneity, because they are the same entity. This is pervasive, because the simultaneous is pervasive in the difference between this and this simultaneous, so that self cannot be simultaneous with that. If it is like the second type, if the essence is different, then how can it become simultaneous? Because simultaneity requires different things to gather in the same place at the same time, so different things in the same place at the same time are contradictory. In addition, refuting by the two being too excessive, if you think that the same thing is simultaneous, then without other friends, only the god exists alone, it will also become simultaneous. Also, if you think that different things are simultaneous, then like the horses and yaks of the east and west mountains, even if they do not exist as friends to each other, they will become simultaneous. Second, there are three types: because the different body is not established, the simultaneous is not established; if the different body is established, then examining the simultaneous is meaningless; if the thing to be proved is used as the thing that can be proved, then cognition will become mutually dependent. First, if you think that different bodies are simultaneous, that is also unreasonable, because desire and attachment are different bodies that do not rely on each other.

Since it is established, then if the two become one, or if desire and passion become mutually independent and individually separate, that is not established. The second case is: if because mutual independence is not established, it is assumed that desire and passion are established as mutually independent, then why would one completely distinguish whether the two are one in order to prove that the two are self-existent? Previously, it was said that the two cannot exist sequentially, so there is no self-nature, and it was also said that the two exist as one, so they are self-existent. Later, it was said that mutual independence is not established, so they cannot exist as one, and it was also said that mutual independence is established. The third case is that oneness will not become meaningless, because without relying on it, individual independence cannot be established, so in order to establish individual independence, if it is considered that oneness is the reason for establishing individual independence, then in order to vigorously establish oneness, is it also considered that individual independence is the reason for establishing oneness? If this is the case, it is logically absurd. Because of the principle that "one is not one," individual independence is not established, so oneness is not allowed. If it is considered permissible, then whenever there is an individually independent thing, it is considered that there is a one thing, because relying on individual independence does not establish oneness, and the reason for establishing individual independence also relies on the oneness to be established, so the reason for establishing the individually independent entity has not been established before, therefore the entity of the oneness to be established will not be established. Third, summarize the main points: desire and passion cannot establish oneness and non-oneness, just as stated before. Second, apply this reasoning to other dharmas: desire depends on passion, and cannot establish oneness and non-oneness, similarly, all dependent dharmas such as hatred depend on their respective objects of dependence such as hatred, and cannot establish oneness and non-oneness, therefore all arising dharmas are established as emptiness of self-nature. Because "If hatred exists before, will there be hatred without hatred?" etc., it applies to all situations. Second, combine with scripture: Precisely for this reason, the Blessed One said: Whatever desire and...
