Neither is it reasonable in all three ways. Because previously, both things themselves and non-things themselves have been generally negated. And, for contradictory things, it is impossible to have three aspects of negation. Third, summarizing the meaning of these two: Because it is unreasonable to apply the definition, space is not the basis of definition; because there is no basis of definition, its definition does not exist. Because these two do not exist, it is not a thing; because the thing to be negated is not a non-thing, it is not a non-thing. It should be combined in this way. Second, comparing this intellect with other things, such as the five elements of earth, etc., are also the same as the analysis of space. As in, "Before the definition of earth, there is not even a little earth." etc., all of these should be combined as before. Third, criticizing the view of taking negation as the purpose: Those small-minded people whose eyes of wisdom are impaired by the darkness of ignorance, regard all mundane things inside and outside as truly existing, and regard negating them as non-existing. Such people cannot see the ultimate state that should be seen, the self-nature of Nirvana, the pacification of all elaborations, and the ultimate state of pacification. Because they only see the extreme of the elaboration to be negated, they do not have the eye of wisdom that is free from clinging to elaboration, just like a blind person. Second, combining with the scriptures: The Samadhiraja Sutra says, "Existence and non-existence are both extremes, purity and impurity are also extremes. Therefore, abandoning the extremes of both, the wise do not abide in the middle way either. Existence and non-existence are called disputes, purity and impurity are also disputes. Once caught in disputes, suffering will not be pacified, without disputes, suffering will cease." Here it says that establishing things and non-things as the ultimate goal of negation, and the way of teaching the union of the two truths should be understood as before. The third is: The explanation of the fifth chapter, the "Element Chapter," in the commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way, "The Light of Correct View." Second, there are three points to refute the establishment of the self of phenomena: refuting desire and attachment, refuting the definition of conditioned phenomena, and refuting the agent and action. The first point has three aspects, first, the connection of the treatise is: Like this, the aggregates, sources, and elements have all been negated, but

Those are inherently existent, because they are the object of the afflictions that depend on them. If there is no dependent, then there is no dependence, like the afflictions of a barren woman's son and daughter. Moreover, the cause of the arising of afflictions such as desire, which arise in dependence on something, exists. As it says in the sutra: "Monks, ignorant children who are not endowed with learning constantly fall because, having seen forms with their eyes, they become attached to what is pleasing to the mind. Having become attached, they generate desire. Having become attached, they perform actions born of desire with body, speech, and mind." And so on, extensively explained. If one thinks like that. Those are meanings that need interpretation, but if examined in detail, this treatise is composed to show that desire and so on are not established by their own nature. The second (examining whether desire and attachment are inherently established) is divided into two: First, establishing through reasoning (that they are not inherently established) is divided into two: refuting that desire and attachment are inherently established, and comparing this reasoning to other phenomena. The first (refuting that desire and attachment are inherently established) is divided into three: refuting that desire and attachment are established sequentially, refuting that they are established simultaneously, and summarizing the main points. The first (refuting that desire and attachment are established sequentially) is divided into two: refuting that attachment exists before desire, and refuting that desire exists before attachment. The first (refuting that attachment exists before desire) is: Here, desire is a mental affliction, while attachment is a synonym for desire in the Abhidharma, and in the Maitreya teachings, it is said to be merely a thought of attachment. But here, it is examined by considering the main consciousness that is in accordance with desire. If desire is inherently existent, then should attachment be analyzed as existing before or not existing? If it is like the first case, if there is attachment without desire before desire, then the dependent attachment (main consciousness) can rely on the dependent mental desire, because attachment exists before, and then desire exists later. Attachment without desire does not exist, because even noble Arhats have attachment. If it is like the second case, if the dependent attachment does not exist before, then how can the dependent desire exist? Because there is no dependent. Just as there is no fruit if there is no tree. The second (refuting that desire exists before attachment) is: Thus, desire
