It should be known that this is on the conventional level, merely in an illusory way, acknowledging the aggregates as nominal designations, thereby elucidating the union of the two truths. The third part is the commentary on the 《Mūlamadhyamakakārikā》, called 《The Light of Right View》, the explanation of the chapter on "Examination of the Faculties", which is the explanation of the third chapter. Second, refuting the self-establishment of the aggregates, divided into three: First, explaining the meaning of "chapter". Thus, although the internal and external sense bases have been refuted, the 《Dharma Skandha》 says: "What is conditioned phenomena? It is the five aggregates." Therefore, the five aggregates are self-existent. Then, since they are included within them, the sense bases should also be self-existent. If one thinks this way, in order to show that the aggregates are not self-established, this "chapter" is composed. Second, explaining the treatise of the "chapter", divided into two: First, establishing through reasoning, divided into three: extensively explaining the method of refuting the form aggregate; comparing this reasoning to other phenomena; showing the key differences in debate and response. First, divided into three: showing that the form of cause and effect are mutually dependent and established; examining the existence or non-existence of the two and refuting them; examining the similarity and dissimilarity of the two and refuting them. First, divided into two: briefly stating the proposition; extensively explaining the reasons. The first is: Here, the cause of form is the elements, and form refers to the form of the effect. If one does not rely on the cause of form—the elements—then from beyond them, the form of the effect, which is different in nature, namely the ten kinds of the five sense faculties and the five objects, or that which is included in the dharma realm, or non-manifest form, etc., cannot be taken as an object of cognition. Similarly, if one does not rely on what is called the form of the effect, then from beyond it, the cause of form, which is different in nature—the elements—will also not appear. These two are the proposition, and the proof will be explained below. The second is: If the cause of form exists without relying on the form of the effect, then the form of the effect will become without a cause, because it has already been established from beyond its own cause, like a pot and a blanket. This is impossible to accept, because any phenomenon such as form cannot arise without a cause at any time or place. If one thinks that the form of the effect exists without relying on the cause of form, then the cause will become independent of the effect, because from beyond it, the nature is

Therefore, it cannot be established, because there is no cause that does not depend on the result, because the term "this is the cause of this" as a cause must depend on the result. The second part has three aspects: refuting the cause of having or not having a result, refuting the result of having or not having a cause, and summarizing the established meaning. The first part is: If there is a cause of form, then does the result's form exist or not? If there is a cause, please think truthfully. If the result's form exists, then the cause of form cannot be established, because if the result has already been established, then the cause has no meaning. If the result's form does not exist, then the cause of form cannot be established, because without a basis, the action of arising will not occur. The second part is: Similarly, does the result's form become a result by relying on having a cause or not having a cause? Think truthfully. The first case is not allowed, because it has already been said that it itself has no cause. The second case, if that form without a cause is analyzed, it is not reasonable, and if it is not analyzed, it is also not reasonable in appearance, because that form is sometimes seen. The third part is: Therefore, a yogi who wants to realize reality should not separately observe the various concepts of the characteristics of form, such as lovely and unlovely, obstructive and unobstructed, visible and invisible, the three times and blue and yellow, etc., because if the form of cause and effect is analyzed with wisdom, it cannot be established because there is no basis for distinction. The third part is: Furthermore, does this cause of form produce a similar result or an dissimilar result? Think truthfully. Among them, saying that it is similar to the result is also unreasonable, because the forms of cause and effect are different in definition. Saying that the result's form produces a result that is dissimilar to the cause's form is also unreasonable, because that would lead to conditioned phenomena producing cessation. Second, comparing this wisdom with other dharmas, namely feeling and the cause of feeling, perception and the consciousness that arises with it, formation and its cause ignorance, mind and consciousness, and the causes and effects such as the formations that arise with it, it is unreasonable to analyze whether they are one or different.
