Accumulating merit through the supreme white Dharma, virtues, wisdom, power, and supreme form, the best of actions, and the conduct of the noble ones who have attained the five supreme clairvoyances. Thus and so forth, it is extensively taught. Similarly, where do those with life go? From where do they come? They said: Venerable Rabjor, there is nowhere to go, and from nowhere to come. The Blessed One taught the Dharma. The meaning of these words is that the ultimate truth of going and coming is actually negated, and indirectly it shows that the conventional coming and going is merely a term, like an illusion. It should be understood that this is the union of the two truths. Third, the title of the treatise is shown: From the commentary on the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way, 'The Light of True View,' the examination of going and coming is called the explanation of the second chapter. Second, there are five other characteristics explained: emptiness of dependent origination of phenomena, emptiness of self of person, emptiness of self-nature of things, emptiness of time, and emptiness of the continuity of existence. First, there are two: refuting the nature of phenomena, and refuting its proof. First, there are three: refuting the establishment of the nature of the sense bases, refuting the establishment of the nature of the aggregates, and refuting the establishment of the nature of the elements. First, there are three, among which the first, the connection of the treatise is: Thus, going, the goer, and the object to be gone have been refuted, but even so, seeing, the seer, and the seen, etc., the inner and outer sense bases are said in the Dharma Abhidhamma, and it is thought that they exist by their own nature. In order to refute the establishment of their own nature, this treatise is composed. Second, the main text of the treatise is divided into two: First, there are two analyses by reason: stating the assertion, and explaining the refutation. The first is: The Shravaka schools think that seeing, the seen, etc., the inner and outer sense bases exist by their own nature, because it is said in the Dharma Abhidhamma Sutra: seeing is the eye, hearing is the ear, smelling is the nose, feeling is the tongue, touching is the body, and thinking is the mind, which is accepted by the Vaibhashika. The Sutra school thinks that seeing is the eye consciousness, etc., and the inner sense bases are the faculties.

Six, it is said that because of the objects of their activity, such as visible forms, which are the six external sources. The second has two parts: elaborately explaining the reasoning that refutes views; comparing this reasoning with other dharmas. The first has two parts: refuting that the eye is the seer; refuting that consciousness is the seer. The first has two parts: refuting with the reason of not seeing oneself; examining whether it is the nature of seeing and then refuting. The first has four parts: establishing the subject-property; establishing the argument; eliminating the uncertain; summarizing the meaning. The first is: The seer accepted by the Vaibhashikas, the eye faculty, its own nature is not seeing it, because the action of seeing oneself is contradictory, and because it is not seen. The second is: Whatever is the eye faculty, that is the subject, how does it see other forms and so on and become not seeing? Because it does not see itself, like a pot. The third is: If one thinks that although it does not see itself, it is not contradictory to see others, just as fire does not burn itself but burns other firewood. Answer: Because it strongly establishes that although it does not see itself, it sees others. The analogy of fire not burning itself but burning others cannot establish that meaning, because the reasoning that prevents the action of going in the past, future, and present has already answered and refuted that analogy and the meaning related to seeing. That is, temporarily burning does not burn, etc., examining the object of burning, firewood, and temporarily seeing does not see, etc., examining the object of seeing, form, in the three times; and temporarily burning does not burn, etc., examining the fire that burns, and temporarily seeing does not see, etc., examining the eye that sees, if examined in three categories, then both the analogy and the meaning cannot be established. The fourth is: Therefore, how can it be reasonable to say that the eye is the seer because it sees form? Because when one does not see oneself or others at all, it is not a seer. The second is: Also, if one thinks that the eye sees form, then one should distinguish: Is it the nature of seeing with the action of seeing, or is it seeing the nature of non-seeing separate from it? Among them, the eye, which has the nature of seeing, is not just seeing form.
