It is not direct, because existence itself is established or does not exist, that is, because the things encompassed by the existence of cause, which is "because this exists," and the existence of effect, which is "this arises," arise dependently, so they are without inherent existence like images. Second, refuting the "other-arising" that is known in the world, worldly people and some logicians say, what is the use of the reasoning that proves other-arising? Because it is seen that sprouts and cloth, etc., arise from seeds and cotton threads, looms, etc., that are different from themselves, so there is arising from others. In response to this, first explain the distinction between the two truths, and even the worldly people's seeing of arising from others is not established, and even if it is seen, it is a conventional truth, so the absence of other-arising does not harm the establishment of the ultimate truth, which is explained in detail. Here, there are three ways to establish the establishment of the ultimate truth with reason: refuting by examining whether the effect exists or does not exist in the cause, refuting by examining whether the effect is the nature of the cause or not, and summarizing the meaning of the establishment of both. First: Do these effects arise from existing or not existing in the cause? If it is the first case, if the effect exists in these causes, then it is understandable that it arises from it. However, the effects that these causes themselves consider to be separate do not exist, because if one effect exists in multiple causes, then it will become multiple effects, and it will not be able to appear. There is no effect even when these causes are assembled, because there is none in each individual cause. If it is the second case, how can the effect, that is, the sprout or cloth, arise from the cause, that is, the cotton thread and seed, etc.? Because there is no arising. Because there is nothing in the causes, that is, there is no effect in the causes. It cannot be said that "pervasion is not established," because if the effect, that is, the sprout and cloth, can arise from these causes even without the cause, that is, the seed and cotton thread, etc., then why can't the effect arise from non-causes such as fire and reeds? Because the absence of effect is the same. Second: Furthermore, does the effect arise from the nature of the cause or from the non-nature of the cause?
