The accumulation path accomplishes the cause of names. This is shown in the fourth stage, "From where is the Bodhisattva?" etc. The sixth is that the Hearers, with their slow discernment, enter the path in the teachings of Buddha Kashyapa. In the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, there are also those who attain Arhatship. Those with swift diligence also attain Arhatship in three lifetimes. Solitary Buddhas, in the stage of the accumulation path, accumulate merit for a hundred kalpas, and from the heat stage to the stage of no more learning, they manifest realization on a single seat. The Mahayanists, in the accumulation path, accumulate merit for three countless kalpas, and from the heat stage to the stage of no more learning, they manifest realization on a single seat. These are: "The swift are liberated from the three existences." And, "The solitary rhino's cause of a hundred kalpas." And, "He becomes a Buddha in three countless kalpas." etc. are shown. The seventh is that after the meditation path, like the Vajra Samadhi, manifesting the wisdom of the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising is the common way of attaining enlightenment for all three vehicles, which is: "He obtains exhaustion and knows exhaustion. At that time, he is a non-learner, an Arhat." And, the scriptures that show the wisdom of the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising of the seventh stage show this. The qualities of that are twofold: those gathered by knowledge and those not gathered. The first has two: common and uncommon. The first is freedom from afflictions, knowing the place of aspirations, the four analytical knowledges, and the six supernormal knowledges, etc. This is shown by the seventh stage. The second is the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the three close placements of mindfulness, and great compassion, which are the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. This is also shown by the seventh stage. The qualities not gathered by knowledge are the four concentrations, the four formless concentrations, the liberations, the cessations, and the subjugations, etc. This is shown by the eighth stage. Thus, from the perspective of showing the common and uncommon distinctions of the way the three vehicles travel the path, it is determined to be eight stages. The second, the determination of the order, is that first, to the Buddha who possesses the perfection of the two benefits, "He who completely destroys the darkness for all." After praising with these three lines, what should be done as a task? It is said that the treatise of the Abhidharmakosha should be well explained.

Thus, it is vowed to be explained. Why is it called the Abhidharma-kośa? The verse "The Abhidharma, stainless wisdom, and its followers" and so on, indicates the meaning of the words Abhidharma and Kośa. Then, for what purpose and by whom was the Abhidharma first taught? It was first taught by the teacher, the Buddha, in order to abandon afflictions. That is, "If there is no Dharma well distinguished." and so on, one verse. What is the Dharma to be distinguished in "If there is no Dharma well distinguished"? It is the two Dharmas of defiled and undefiled, which are indicated by "contaminated and uncontaminated Dharmas." The definition of contaminated and uncontaminated, and the internal classification of uncontaminated, are indicated by the eleven lines beginning with "All conditioned things except the path." What is the conditioned in "All conditioned things except the path"? It is the five aggregates of form, etc., mainly indicating the aggregates, and also indirectly indicating the realms and sources, thus indicating the three: aggregates, realms, and sources, that is, from "Those conditioned Dharmas are also" to "The first chapter is complete." In the first chapter, "Among the twelve, it is said to be the inner sense base." Only the names of the sense bases are mentioned, and although the classification of conditioned Dharmas is explained in detail, their arising, causes, conditions, and results are not explained. Therefore, the second chapter explains the classification of the sense bases, the arising of conditioned things, and the causes, conditions, and results in order. In the first chapter, when classifying the aspects of the realms, it explains how they are included in the three realms. In the second chapter, in the context of the twenty-two faculties and associated formations, it also explains how they are included in the three realms. Immediately after that, in the context of conditions, although it is said that the ten consciousnesses included in the three realms and the two uncontaminated consciousnesses, that is, the twelve consciousnesses, arise before and after which, the classification of the three realms that include them is not explained. Therefore, the third chapter explains these in detail. In the third chapter, "No self, only aggregates." It speaks of the selflessness of the agent. When explaining the world of containers and contents, some outsiders say that the selflessness of the agent is unreasonable, because the world of containers and contents is made by the self.
