When they strike each other and faint, falling to the ground, a voice comes from the sky saying, "May you be revived!" Or, a cold wind arises and they are revived. Like before, they experience it again and again until their karma is exhausted. The fire at the end of an eon is hotter than the fire of revival, and it is said that the latter is four times hotter than the former with each successive increase. In the Black Line Hell, the hell guards mark the body with four, eight, or even more black lines. When they walk, stand, and gather to be destroyed together, the hell guards use two iron mountain faces like beast heads, as well as the faces of sheep, horses, elephants, lions, and tigers, two of each, to immediately clamp down, causing blood to flow from all pores. When they gather again, they are squeezed like firewood by a great iron wheel, with blood dripping. When they gather again, iron hailstones strike the ground like rain, causing blood to flow. When the Wailer seeks shelter, they enter an iron house, where fire is set, burning and boiling, and they are burned, uttering cries and laments. Then, they are stretched out with iron nails, making them wrinkle-free. They are laid supine on the ground, and their mouths are pried open with iron tongs. Molten iron and boiling copper are poured in, burning the mouth, anus, and all the internal organs, causing them to flow out from the lower body, until they have experienced all these sufferings. Some of these sufferings are clearly present above and below. The nearby places are: sixteen more than all eight hot hells. In the four directions of these places are: the river of fire ashes, the mud of decaying corpses, the path of hair-like knives, and other rivers. That is to say, in each direction of the eight hot hells, there is a river of fire ashes that is knee-deep. When asked what they want, they answer that they do not know, cannot see, but are hungry and thirsty. Then, molten iron and copper are poured in like in the Avici hell. So, are the hell guards sentient beings or non-sentient beings? It is said that they will appear like emanations. The Sutra School believes that the great elements born from karma are the distinctions of earth, water, etc. Some Vaibhashikas believe they are sentient beings.
