Then, when in the formless realm, will no merit of the formless realm arise? It will not arise because of four distances: basis, aspect, object, and antidote. Similarly, others should also be carefully compared. Because it is said, "From the four learners," one might think that this view holds that there is a loss of the Arhat fruit, so after the mind of non-learning, will learning also arise? That is not so. Because here is the occasion to explain the way of being a cause immediately after. When one falls from the fruit, first after the non-learning, uncontaminated (mind), post-attainment (wisdom) arises. At that time, afflictions manifest and one becomes a learner, therefore, this is because of the interruption by consciousness of a different kind. Then, learning arises after the four learners, and non-learning arises as the exhaustion of knowledge after the final path of cultivation, therefore, it is well established that (exhaustion of knowledge) arises after the five (minds). The difficult points regarding the explanation of the place of the senses have been explained. Hell, hungry ghosts, animals, etc. When (speaking of) "hell, hungry ghosts, animals," there are two things to be known and two meanings to be known. The first is: the sentient world. The second is: because non-merit leads beings there, or from the etymology of adding letters, the negative word "ra ri" is happiness, ka ra is making, that is, not making happiness, so it is hell. Acharya Samghabhadra said that because "sara ka" means not found, so because there is no finding and no protection, it is hell. Standing and walking like a human, not a human, is an animal, because of walking, it is a beast. Because it goes and does not return, or because it walks on dry land, it is a hungry ghost. Because the mind is strong, or because it is the son of the lord of beings, Ishvara, it is a human. Because it belongs to the retinue of the Four Great Kings, or because it exists in the place of the four (Great Kings), it is a god. Or because good deeds are born together there. In the commentary on the Undying Treasury, it says: "The one who holds the senses is also another, Placing, increasing, teaching, Those with parts pervade the place, The great light guides as a friend." Here it speaks of the twelve names of the sun, as well as: "The only unborn binder, Placing, fierce, with diligence, Seizing self-nature, born of bliss, The three-eyed one cannot be overcome by others, The powerful one and the three places, The fierce eleven are thus spoken." And, mind

Having a moon with firm determination. Holding itself, and wind and fire. Dawn and the extremely bright one. These eight are said to be gods of wealth. Thus it is said. And the two sons of the star Tha, totaling thirty-three. Some say that Bodhi, Supreme Power, Virtue, etc., are the eight gods of wealth. Vishnu, Ganapati, Yama, Tsara, Mahakala, Bhringi Riti, Kara, etc., are the eleven wrathful ones. Joy, Near Joy, Power, Desire-maker, Light Protector, Great Means, Lion, Fullness, Bliss, Great Knowledge, Excellent Greatness, and the God of Gods are said to be the twelve suns. Because the gods and non-gods are free from fighting, or because merit has been exhausted, or because they are born as twins, or because when melting iron, a sound of urging arises, therefore it is Yama. Because the bliss and joy of Dharma are particularly great, it is Tushita. Because one delights in enjoying one's own emanated enjoyments, it is Nirmanarati. Because one has power over the enjoyments emanated by others, it is Paranirmitavasavartin. In the "Earth Commentary," it is said that because one practices abandoning sins, one has eliminated the Dharma of sins, therefore it is Brahma, and because it belongs to that category, it is that. Because one sits in front of the Great Brahma and utters words, it is that. Because life and color, etc., are greater than other Brahmas, it is Great Brahma. Relative to one's own upper grounds, because the light is small, it is the Heaven of Little Light. Because it cannot be measured, it is the Heaven of Immeasurable Light. Because it illuminates all other places, it is the Heaven of Clear Light. Because the bliss of the mind's ground is called virtue, and it is smaller than one's own upper grounds, it is the Heaven of Little Virtue. Because the bliss is immeasurable compared to the lower ground, it is the Heaven of Immeasurable Virtue. Because the bliss greatly increases, it is the Heaven of Universal Virtue. Because the ground is like a gathering of clouds without edges, it is that. Because it arises from immovable karma, it is the Heaven of Merit-born. Because the fruit is greater than all children related to other places, it is the Heaven of Great Fruit. Because the stream of consciousness of the wheel of the six consciousnesses is cut off and abides, it is the Heaven of Non-Discernment. Because the upper pure places that are not mixed with individual beings are not great, it is that. Because one has obtained a special samadhi and there is no suffering of afflictions, it is the Heaven of No Heat. Because it is extremely peaceful and beautiful before the eyes, it is the Heaven of Good Appearance. Because seeing or looking is extremely pure and good, it is
