Attachment itself and, the recognition of difference itself and, non-attention and, the bad physical condition and, roughness and, slander and, grasping itself and, non-grasping itself and, not abiding in its own nature itself and, of desire and, of harm and, of closeness and, of locality and, of immortality and, possessing contempt and, possessing pride in lineage, such discriminations and, sorrow and, suffering and, discomfort and, disturbances, etc. Chim considers these to be real, so there are seventy real entities. Although he thinks so, if analyzed by reason, it is reasonable to establish them as imputations. The third is, in general, a real entity has four characteristics: it can be analyzed by reason, it is constant and stable, it has function, and it can be independent. Here it refers to being able to independently become an object of consciousness. Imputations are also divided into four types: fabricated, based on temporary states, based on parts, and based on other things. Here it refers to the third type, which is to become an object of consciousness by relying on others. The examples have been mentioned before. The fourth is, in the "Madhyāntavibhāga" (Middle Beyond Extremes), it says, "Seeing the object is consciousness, its difference is mental factors." The meaning is that the Vaibhāṣika (Particularists) believe that grasping only the object itself by one's own power is mind, and grasping the differences of the object, such as joy and sorrow, etc., by one's own power is mental factors. For example, the eye consciousness that grasps blue, grasping only blue itself is by one's own power. And the accompanying feelings, etc., grasping only blue itself, is by the power of others, that is, the power of the eye consciousness that grasps blue. Because when other consciousnesses occur as its attendants, it is not certain to grasp it. Also, the accompanying feeling, grasping the pleasant blue, which is pleasing, is by one's own power. And the eye consciousness that grasps blue grasping it is by the power of others. Because when the feeling is associated with suffering, etc., it is not certain to grasp it. If, according to the Sautrāntika (Followers of the Sutras) and Yogācāra (Mind-Only) schools, which follow reason, mind and mental factors are considered to be the same entity, then on the entity of one consciousness, the part that grasps only the essence of the object is established as mind, and the part that grasps the differences of the object is established as mental factors, so there is no need to admit self-power and other-power. And the great commentary on the "Madhyāntavibhāga"

Furthermore, the statement by the teacher Lodan (བློ་བརྟན།) that "the aspects of mind and mental factors are different" refers to the meaning that the aspects of essence and difference are different. The view of Panglo Chenpo (དཔང་ལོ་ཆེན་པོ།) is considered to be the common intention of both the root text and the commentary. The Vaibhashika school (བྱེ་བྲག་ཏུ་སྨྲ་བ།) believes that the aspects are completely the same, so they think there is no need to explain the meaning of different aspects. Regarding this point, previous scholars have also said many nonsensical things without distinguishing the differences between schools. Fifth, the first three groups, the arrogance of the fifth group, the attachment of the uncertain group, pride, and doubt, are all pervasive in the three realms. The seven kinds in the fourth and fifth groups, except for deceit, flattery, and arrogance, and the sleep, regret, and anger of the uncertain group, are only in the desire realm. The deceit of the fifth group and the investigation of the uncertain group are only in the desire realm and the first dhyana. Sixth, the four of the first group, and the investigation, attachment, and aversion of the uncertain group, are all common to the six consciousnesses. The others only occur as retinues of the mind consciousness. Seventh, the first group pervades all minds, so it has the widest scope and is therefore explained first. The second group, relative to the other groups, is worthy of offering, so it is explained second. The third group pervades all afflictions and has a wider scope than the following two groups, so it is explained third. The fourth group pervades all non-virtues and has a wider scope than the last group, so it is explained fourth. The fifth group has a smaller scope than all the previous groups, so it is explained last. Eighth, it is shown on the mind because it arises immediately moment by moment, so it arises from the mind. If it is thought to be simultaneous with the mind, then here it is considered to be "corresponding cause and effect," that is, simultaneous cause and effect, so there is no fault. Therefore, if mind and mental factors are considered to be different entities, then it is believed that mental factors have no continuity. If they are considered to be the same entity, then the distinction of having or not having continuity is not acknowledged. These are the unique ways of establishing mind and mental factors according to the system of this treatise. The system of the upper Abhidharma treatises has already been extensively explained elsewhere, so please refer to it there. In the section on "Non-associated Formations," there are three aspects: the definition of non-associated formations, the classification, and the proof of their substantial existence.
