As the Mahayana mentioned in "All great vehicles are gathered," and the 'Hundred Thousand Verses' and 'Flower Garland Sutra' which expound profound and vast content, are not disregarded. Generally speaking, it is not that they do not acknowledge the Mahayana as superior to the Shravakas, because their own school believes that through the generation of Bodhicitta, diligence, and the distinction of time, one can attain the three Bodhis. As it is said, "Quickly at the end of the three existences," and "Rhinoceros horn for a hundred eons," and "They become Buddhas in three countless eons." So, are there ultimately three vehicles or one? The Shravaka school believes that for those whose Shravaka lineage is uncertain, it is possible to transform into their own school below the middle forbearance, and it is possible to transform into the Mahayana below the peak, but it is impossible to transform into the Mahayana after obtaining forbearance, because transforming into the Mahayana requires taking birth in the lower realms for the benefit of others, and it is impossible to take birth in the lower realms after obtaining forbearance. The Mind-Only school believes that below the Nirvana with remainder, it is possible for those whose Shravaka lineage is uncertain to transform into the Mahayana, but all of these, after obtaining Nirvana without remainder, the activities of conditioned phenomena cease, so it is impossible to enter the Mahayana. Therefore, they believe that ultimately there are three vehicles, and saying there is one vehicle is a provisional statement. The Madhyamaka school believes that ultimately there is one vehicle, and even at the time of the Nirvana with remainder of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, only the gross mind and mental factors cease, but the subtle ones do not cease, so at some point the Tathagata awakens them with light emanating from between his eyebrows, and through the ground of ignorance and the karma of the uncontaminated mind, through the door of death and transference of inconceivable transformations, they accumulate merit for three countless eons and attain Buddhahood. As the 'Commentary on Mind' says, "Those Shravakas, as long as the Buddhas do not urge them, at that time, with a single body of wisdom, they dwell intoxicated and fainting in Samadhi. After being urged, with various forms, they delight in benefiting sentient beings." In the chapter on "Contaminated and Uncontaminated Dharmas," there are two divisions: the examination of the contaminated and the examination of the uncontaminated. First, the contaminated is divided into three: refuting other's views, establishing one's own views, and resolving disputes. The first

Furthermore, some argue that the meaning of contaminated (有漏, *zāg pa*) is synonymous with defilements (烦恼, *nyon mongs*), then only defiled minds and mental factors are considered contaminated. Some argue that it is what arises together, then only the five aggregates that arise together with defilements are considered contaminated. As the scriptures say, "The exemplifiers say, it is the basis of defilements." According to this, only the six internal sense bases are considered contaminated, then these three statements become too narrow. Some argue that it is what becomes the object of defilements, then it becomes too broad, because when elaborately explaining the two paths of cessation and path, they will also be explained as the objects of defilements, thus leading to the fallacy that cessation and path are also contaminated. Secondly, defilements are the root and near defilements, and what grows through the means of object and association is contaminated, and the meaning of growth is also the ability to generate and attain stability momentarily and continuously through the power of object and association. Thirdly, then how are the external world and the aggregates of an Arhat considered contaminated? Because they can grow through being the object of other beings' defilements, they are considered contaminated. Although the two paths of cessation and path can be the object of defilements, defilements will not grow, because they are the object only through imputation, not as a real entity, so it will not lead to the fallacy that cessation and path are contaminated. Secondly, explaining the uncontaminated, there are three points: entity, definition, and division. The first point is: the truth of the path and the unconditioned. Then, since the scriptures directly say, "The uncontaminated truth of the path and the three unconditioned," and in the entity of the contaminated, it says, "All conditioned phenomena except the path," implying that these are proven to be uncontaminated, aren't these two repetitions? There are three answers to this: some argue that this is to dispel the wrong view of the third aggregate, such as feeling having three types of pleasure, pain, and indifference, or the external world and the aggregates of an Arhat are neither the basis of defilements nor the antidote, therefore, to dispel the doubt that this is the third aggregate that is neither the basis nor the antidote. Some say that although it can be understood in meaning, it is not repeated because it is explained more clearly, just like summary and detailed explanation. Teacher Yonten Lodro (ཡོན་ཏན་བློ་གྲོས་, *yon tan blo gros*) says that because it is said "except the path," even the worldly path is uncontaminated.
