One should walk without waving the arms, without turning the head, without linking shoulders with each other, and without holding hands. The third is: There are nine ways of sitting. That is, wherever one goes, one should not sit on a cushion without being told, "Please sit here." One should not sit down without examination. One should not sit down with the weight of the whole body pressing down. One should not cross the legs, one should not cross the thighs, one should not place one ankle on top of the other, one should not draw the feet under the chair, one should not spread the legs apart, and one should sit properly. One should not rest the cheek on the hand, and one should not move the cushion; these two were spoken by the learned Abbot Yönten Öd, combining them harmoniously. The fourth is: The eight things to be given and received. That is, when taking food while sitting on a cushion in this way, one should always take food well. One should not take it intermittently, and one should not take it as much as the side dishes. One should do it in order, looking at the begging bowl, and one should not pick up the begging bowl before food and side dishes have come. Also, because of greed, one should not cover the side dishes with rice, and one should not cover the rice with side dishes, and one should not hold the container above the food to take it. The fifth is: In the Vinaya it says: There are six things to do well with food, five kinds such as "tsuk tsuk", five kinds of separating grains, five kinds such as licking the hands, and four kinds such as contempt. Therefore, do not touch clean items such as water vessels with dirty things. Do not sprinkle food and dirty water on the monks sitting nearby. Without asking, do not arbitrarily pour out the bathing water of laypeople. Sixth, there are also ten situations regarding the alms bowl. That is, after eating, do not pour the remaining food into the alms bowl and discard it. After washing the alms bowl three times with clean water, it should be expressed with verses from the scriptures and then given as alms. These two are not covered by the precepts. What is covered is that the alms bowl should not be placed on the ground without a base, next to a garbage heap, on the edge of a cliff, or in a steep place. Do not wash the alms bowl in three places such as garbage heaps. Do not wash the alms bowl against the rapid flow of water. Do not wash the alms bowl at the crossroads of roads. Seventh, the precepts say: five situations such as standing, five situations such as covering the head, five situations such as wearing a headscarf, five riding tools such as elephants, and six situations such as holding a cane. That is, after the matter of food is finished, it is necessary to talk about giving and merit. The way is: when the listener is sitting, the speaker should not stand and teach the Dharma. When lying down, do not sit and teach the Dharma. When sitting on a high and good seat, do not sit on a low and bad seat to teach the Dharma. When walking in front, do not walk behind and teach the Dharma. When walking in the middle of the road, do not walk on the side and teach the Dharma. In addition, do not teach the Dharma while wearing a hat, wrapping clothes, slanting over the shoulders, crossing hands in front of the neck and behind the back. In addition, do not teach the Dharma to those who wear headscarves, hats, hair ornaments, rosaries, and turbans. In addition, do not teach the Dharma to those who ride on elephants, horses, palanquins, riding tools, and wear shoes. In addition, do not teach the Dharma to those who hold canes, umbrellas, weapons, swords, carry weapons, and wear armor. Eighth is the sect about the way of practice, and ninth is the sect about prohibiting wandering, these two are the eight diseases. That is, after eating, the way to discard food residue is: do not stand to urinate, do not urinate in water, and do not discard what has been excreted.
