Now, what exists is that it needs to be derived from the detailed explanation of the harm of fame, which will appear in the chapter of the main subject. Third, regarding the individual meanings, there are two: explaining the meaning of the proposition that refutes the nature of the dharma, and explaining the meaning of the proposition that refutes the distinctions of the dharma, etc. The first is divided into five points: direct perception, inference based on the power of things, refutation of reliance on fame, and the necessity of mentioning self-establishment. The first point is further divided into three aspects: definition, example, and determination of nature. In the first point, some say, "What is refuted by direct perception is the direct opposite of the meaning established by valid cognition (pramāṇa)," but this statement has been refuted by previous reasoning. The self-view is: at the very moment of making the proposition, the direct perception that can see it can establish the opposite that can actually eliminate it. The second is: sound is not audible, and so on. The third is divided into five aspects: what is to be eliminated, the basis of elimination, the eliminator, the method of elimination, and the necessity of mentioning meaning and what is to be heard. The first point is: not audible. The second is: this is also on sound, but not on other subjects, because form, etc., are not audible, which is established by valid cognition (pramāṇa). The third point is: some say, "Sound being audible is the nature of the eliminator, but auditory direct perception is not the nature of the eliminator, because both of them are equally not established as the nature of sound." If auditory direct perception establishes that sound is audible, therefore wanting to eliminate sound being not audible is also unreasonable, because neither of these two contradictions is established. Therefore, auditory direct perception is a nominal eliminator, because "the object of measurement of direct perception, etc., the measurer speaks by nominally attributing sound." Some say, "It is not only not the nature of the eliminator, but also not nominal, because there is no need for such nominal attribution." To this, the first view is unreasonable, because in explaining the elimination of valid cognition (pramāṇa), it is not the case that the newly eliminated existing before is taken as the eliminator, but because the dharma is in accordance with the state of the object, it is established by valid cognition (pramāṇa), therefore taking the elimination of its opposite as the eliminator. Because auditory direct perception establishes that sound is audible, therefore sound is audible, thus eliminating sound being not audible.

In order to be an obstacle. Furthermore, that dharma, is not a harmer to what is not sound to be heard, because it is not a remover. It cannot be allowed, because it has been promised, that is also a valid cognition, because it says "is considered to be unimpeded by the pure." The own system is, sound is something to be heard, that is the actual remover, what real contradiction is there between that and sound not being something to be heard? Because there is a valid cognition supporting it. Auditory perception is an indirect remover, because sound is something to be heard, removing the opposite side also depends on it. Fourth, among the two of negation and affirmation of things, and negation and affirmation of valid cognition, the first is, like hot touch removing cold touch, removing what existed before newly, and like sound being impermanent removing sound being permanent, there, with the power of establishment, removing what is not that two. The second is, with the power of valid cognition establishing objects being existent or nonexistent, and being or not being, etc., removing the superimpositions of the opposite side. Like this, among the two, from the perspective of negation and affirmation of things, actually removing, and from the perspective of negation and affirmation of valid cognition, indirectly removing is the way of removing. Fifth, in short, when explaining the basis of elimination of perception, what is the need to say "meaning"? There is a need, because the sound that is the basis of what is not to be heard, which is eliminated by auditory perception, must be a sound that is truly established, it cannot eliminate what is not to be heard on the knowable reverse of sound, etc., in order to show this. Like this, although it is enough to say that sound not being sound is eliminated by perception, what is the need to say in the commentary that sound not being something to be heard is an example of it? There is a need, because auditory perception is the main establisher of sound being something to be heard, and in order to show that with the power of auditory perception establishing sound being something to be heard, it harms sound not being something to be heard. Second, from the aspect of elimination by the force of reality inference, there are three: definition, example, and determination of nature. The first is, the contradiction that can actually eliminate from the mere commitment itself is mainly established by the force of reality inference. Second, like sound being permanent. Third, there are what is to be eliminated, the basis of elimination, the eliminator,
