I. How does a single-affirming pervasion express the force of the subject-property? In response, the 'Auto-commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning' states that it is expressed by the word "Oh, then." For example, if the opponent says, "If you go to Lhasa, you will see Jowo," and the other party says, "Oh, then I will go too," then the word "Oh, then" expresses the meaning of "If you go to Lhasa, you will see Jowo." Apart from this, considering the words of both the proponent and opponent as valid arguments, and saying that one must remember the meaning and three aspects of the scriptures, all imply that if the three aspects are actually expressed, one must acknowledge that the three aspects must be directly expressed, which goes beyond the scope of reasoning. Secondly, pseudo-arguments have two aspects: definition and classification. The first is: whatever is presented as a valid argument but expresses a flawed probandum. The second has three types: pseudo-arguments with flaws in meaning, flaws in cognition, and flaws in sound. The first is: expressing a reason that lacks the three aspects, such as saying "Sound is the object of eye-consciousness," which is expressing the unestablished; or saying "If it is measurable, then it must be permanent," which is expressing the uncertain; or saying "If it is produced, then it must be permanent," which is expressing the contradictory. The second is: although the three aspects are complete, it expresses what the previous debater himself has not established, that is, expressing that all three aspects are not established, expressing that the pervasion is not established, and expressing that the subject-property is not established. The third is: although the three aspects are complete and the previous debater has established them, there are flaws in the way of expression, such as a five-membered argument that has both the flaw of excess and the flaw of deficiency; or, in front of a debater who must directly express both the subject-property and the pervasion, expressing only one of them, which creates the flaw of deficiency; or, expressing a two-membered argument but adding the third and fifth cases at the end of the sentence, which creates flaws in the way of expression. Secondly, refutations are divided into correct refutations and pseudo-refutations. First, a correct refutation has two aspects: definition and classification. The first, the definition, is: the speech that makes one understand the flaw by stating the flaw as a flaw. Second, there are three ways to classify. From the perspective of the object, it is divided into refutations of flaws in the reason, refutations of flaws in the definition, and refutations of flaws in the proposition.

There are three correct refutations that point out faults. From the aspect of essence, there are three correct refutations that point out faults in meaning, faults in intelligence, and faults in sound. From the aspect of expression, there are two types: genuine and consequential. Secondly, apparent refutations have two aspects: definition and classification. The first is: any statement that is presented as a refutation, but does not point out the fault as a fault, and therefore cannot make one understand that there is a fault. The second has two aspects: refutation and establishment. The first is: the twenty-two defeats and twenty-four shortcomings that are asserted by outsiders have already been refuted. The Vaisheshika school says that asserting what is not a fault of the reason, a fault of the definition, or a fault of the pledge as a fault, and asserting what is not a fault of meaning, a fault of intelligence, or a fault of sound as a fault, are six in total. This is unreasonable because when the proponent establishes a correct proof, should one criticize it from various aspects? Or praise oneself? Even if one explains other irrelevant things, they will not be included in these. Secondly, as stated in the Hetuvidya, the fundamental classification is twofold: not stating the fault and stating what is not a fault. The internal classifications are inconceivable, as stated in the Pramāṇavārttika: "Because there is no limit to wrong answers, these are not elaborated here." Thirdly, from the aspect of expression, there are two types: statements of svatantra and statements of consequence. The first is the same in meaning as the statement of proof, so it has already been explained. The second has two aspects: the nature of consequence and the manner of answering. The first has three aspects: refutation, establishment, and abandonment. The first has two aspects: stating the assertion and refuting the assertion. The first is: in the view of Rigpai Wangchuk Chapa, the establishment of consequence is divided into fourteen types, and it is divided into two types: correct and apparent. For the correct, it is divided into two types: inferring the proof and not inferring the proof. There are three types in total. The first is: "The four consequences are fourteen, the people of the snowy land assert in this way." As it is said, the fundamental classifications are four: both the sign and the pervasion are not established, only the sign is not established, only the pervasion is not established, and both are established. The first is: for example, in the presence of Buddhists, sound is the subject, it should be impermanent, because it is permanent, like this, both are valid.
