If only understood through meaning, the power of that word is not complete, because there is smoke, so what? Because it is made, so what? It is necessary to ask again. If the debater's statement is not complete, and the rebuttal's statement intervenes, then the rules of debate say that this is the speaker's fault. Second, one's own tenet is: there are two ways of applying to a foolish debater and applying to a wise debater. The first is: although one remembers the pervasion on the example, but the foolish debater who cannot remember the general pervasion, it is necessary to apply a proof statement with two limbs that has few words and broad meaning, because that needs to generate remembrance of all three modes. Therefore, the foolish person here refers to the fact that although it is certain through the power of valid cognition that what is made on the pot is pervaded by impermanence, but one cannot remember that whatever is made is pervaded by impermanence, this refers to this. It does not refer to not understanding the pervasion relationship on the example, because if one does not understand the pervasion relationship on the example, then there is no need to say "like a pot." If one thinks that even if one understands the pervasion relationship on the example, one still says it, that is also not correct, because if one says it, it cannot be used as an example, because, if there is no fault because of forgetting, then, precisely because of this, it is not an example. Such a debater needs to have a statement with two limbs, but neither similar pervasion nor dissimilar pervasion is needed, because by directly stating one of the two, remembrance of the other will also arise, because, precisely because of this, if one understands the relationship, by saying either one of the two, through the understanding of the meaning, correct remembrance of the other will also arise. This is what is said. For this, whether one places similar pervasion or dissimilar pervasion, there is no difference, whether one places the property of the subject as the antecedent or the pervasion as the antecedent, there is no difference, because all of these can also generate the memory consciousness of remembering the three modes on the same basis on the subject of debate, because the "Treasure of Reasoning Self-Commentary" says: The statement of proof is the statement that makes the other person understand what they have not understood, or even if they alternately understand the property of the subject and the pervasion, it is the statement that makes them remember what they have not remembered on the same basis. Here, alternately understanding the property of the subject and the pervasion refers to the fact that what is made on sound is certain, and what is made on the pot is pervaded by impermanence.

It is like a definite recognition. Remembering in a common basis means doing it on the sound itself. If done, both the impermanence that pervades it are remembered. If you say, "Isn't it contradictory to have previously promised that it is impossible to remember the three aspects simultaneously?" You, who outwardly display the appearance of rough wisdom inwardly, listen carefully. Remembering the three aspects in a common basis on the sound and remembering them simultaneously are completely different in meaning. Remembering in a common basis means remembering that the sound is made, and also remembering that being made on the sound is pervaded by impermanence. These two cognitions are not interrupted by others, but are merely remembered in the same lineage. That alone does not establish that these two are remembered simultaneously. Otherwise, there would be no remembering in a common basis of sound being made and impermanence, because it is impossible to remember these two simultaneously in the sound. If it is not established, then, is it one main thought that remembers these two simultaneously? Or are it two main thoughts with different entities that remember these two simultaneously? If it is the former, then, "Therefore, whatever pervades, by what is it understood, it cannot be done by another, therefore, they each abide in different states," etc., would prevent the main parts of the great lord's reasoning. If it is the latter, then one person would become many different streams of consciousness. Considering this, the auto-commentary of the Treasure of Reasoning says that in the case of self-interest, two thoughts cannot occur simultaneously, therefore it is said that it is impossible to remember the three aspects simultaneously. But in the case of benefiting others, as quoted earlier, it is said that the three aspects are remembered in a common basis. For both the antecedent of the property of the subject and the antecedent of pervasion, it is necessary to add the concluding words. For example, for the antecedent of the property of the subject, like many examples. "Like a pot," this is adding the conclusion to the pervasion. For the antecedent of pervasion, "There is smoke in some places," this is adding the conclusion to the property of the subject. Secondly, the way to apply it to the wise is that when one knows the relationship of pervasion in the example, for the wise who remember the general pervasion and speak it out, it can be established by simply stating the property of the subject, such as "Then the sound is also made." In an assembly, even if the pervasion is not spoken out, even if one has become wise, the words of proof are not complete at that time.
