It is because the cause is named by the name of the effect. Some add that it is because it is the fruit of inference from the lineage of the previous debater, which is unreasonable, because it is not certain that there is an inference of the thing to be proven in the lineage of the previous debater. The second part has three points: the definition of each, the distinction between victory and defeat, and how the witness proves it. The first point is: the definitions of the previous debater, the subsequent debater, and the witness are, in order, the person who promises to state the argument, the person who promises to state the refutation, and the person who promises to state the victory or defeat of both. The second point is: of the two, the debater and the subsequent debater, whoever states something defective is the position to be stopped, and whoever states something without defect is the position to be supported. That is, if the debater puts forward a correct argument and the subsequent debater does not point out the defect, then the subsequent debater loses; if the debater puts forward a seemingly valid argument and the subsequent debater points out the correct defect, then the debater loses. Even if a seemingly valid argument is put forward, if the subsequent debater does not point out the defect, or points out a seemingly valid defect, but the debater does not know how to pull out the thorn, then there is no victory or defeat in either case, because even if there is a defect, one does not know how to argue and refute. The distinction between victory and defeat depends on whether the two debaters are able to destroy each other's courage. As it is said in the "Rules of Debate": "If the subsequent debater understands its entity, it will change; otherwise, neither of the two will become a victor or a loser." Even if the argument made by the debater states something defective, if the subsequent debater does not point out the defect, then it is unreasonable to establish the manner of defeat, because it is precisely these factors that depend on each other to determine victory and defeat. Even if one deceives through lies, deception, and abandoning promises, one cannot protect the tenets, so there is no victory or defeat. As it is said in the "Rules of Debate": "In order to protect the truth, even the holy ones want to stop the opponent by means of deception, etc., which is not right. If it is said that fists, slaps, swords, and fire, etc., can also be used, then this is not the right way to protect the truth."

It is considered so. Thirdly, in general, there are two ways of subduing and embracing, and specifically establishing the place of subduing. The first is: Understand it as it is said, "To treat worldly people with robbery and charity, wanting to subdue and embrace. For those who take and abandon sects, wanting the subduing and embracing of the holy ones." The second is divided into two: stating what is reasonable and refuting what is wrong. The first is: Previously, the debater, in the place of subduing, does not state the limb of establishment, and states the non-limb, these two; later, the debater, in the place of subduing, does not state the fault, and states the non-fault, these two, there are four in total. As it is said in the "Treatise on Debate": "Not stating the limb of establishment, and not stating the fault, these two, are the place of subduing, are the place, others are unreasonable because they are illogical." So it is said. The second is divided into two: refuting the views of the Snowlanders and refuting the views of the Red-eyed ones. The first is: The former Tibetans, to the debater, do not answer what is asked, state what is faulty, state what is not asked, these three; when avoiding faults, do not avoid faults, state similar answers, state untimely answers, these six. To the later debater, when asking questions, do not ask, ask what is inappropriate, ask what is irrelevant, these three; when stating faults, do not state faults, state similar faults, state untimely faults, these six. To the witness, do not distinguish, distinguish upside down, distinguish untimely, these three. In common, it is said that there are sixteen in total, including not listening. That is unreasonable, not answering, stating what is faulty, not avoiding faults, stating similar answers, these are all included in the debater not stating the establisher, or stating the non-establisher. Stating what is not asked, if it is timely, there is no fault, if it is not timely, it is included in stating the non-limb. The later debater admits and does not ask, asks what is inappropriate, this itself is lack of courage, asking what is irrelevant, if some people ask after thinking, then it is not irrelevant, if it is a foolish person who asks, then it is included in lack of courage, lack of courage then boils down to not stating the limb of establishment, or not stating the fault. As it is said in the "Treatise on Debate":
