It is said that, because from the perspective of seemingly authentic scriptures, it is said to be a scriptural obstacle. This is unreasonable, because it is necessary to examine whether there are two types of factors, namely, those that harm and those that obstruct, based on the establishment of pure scriptures. Some say that the meaning of 'scriptural harm' is that a pure scripture has a reason for not deceiving its own doctrine, and that there is harm in it deceiving that doctrine; and that the meaning of 'scriptural obstacle' is that a pure scripture has no reason for its own doctrine to be established, and that there is no harm in it not being established. This is unreasonable, because if a pure scripture has a reason for not deceiving its own doctrine, and there is harm in it deceiving its own doctrine, then it is the same that it has a reason for its own statement to be established, and that there is harm in it not being established. Furthermore, some say that regarding the way to eliminate belief, in general, there are two ways to eliminate belief: contradiction with one's own words and contradiction with scripture. The first has two types: contradiction between the direct and indirect meanings of the same statement, and contradiction between prior and subsequent commitments. The first is only the elimination of an obstacle, such as the adherence to the meaning of the commitment that all statements are false. The second has two types: elimination in the manner of an obstacle and elimination in the manner of harm. The first is like committing to being male before and then committing to being female later. The second is like previously committing to sound being permanent, and then later, through what is determined by valid cognition, committing that whatever is produced is necessarily impermanent, like a pot, and also committing that sound is produced. The second, contradiction with scripture, has two types: contradiction with scripture that becomes the reason for establishing the subject of the commitment, and contradiction with scripture that does not become that. The first is like committing that dharma does not produce happiness after death, and being harmed by the pure scripture that one has committed to. The second is like previously committing to sound being impermanent, and then later eliminating it by accepting as valid cognition a scripture that shows sound to be permanent. That is what they say. That is unreasonable, because in the elimination of belief, dividing it into contradiction with one's own words and contradiction with scripture, and only dividing the former into contradiction between the direct and indirect meanings of what is said and contradiction between prior and subsequent commitments, is what was previously prohibited.

Therefore. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to eliminate the contradiction between the direct and indirect meanings of the same statement solely as an obstacle. Because, for the proponent himself, there are two situations: either the direct and indirect meanings are established by valid cognition, or neither of them is established by valid cognition. In the former case, the direct meaning harms the indirect meaning; in the latter case, the indirect meaning harms the direct meaning. Because the two are directly contradictory, and one has a reliable valid cognition as support, while the other does not. Similarly, it is also unreasonable to eliminate the situation where one previously vowed to be "male" and later vowed to be "vulva" solely as an obstacle. Because, for the proponent himself, there are also three situations: either "male" is established by valid cognition, "vulva" is not established by valid cognition, or neither of them is established by valid cognition. Therefore, it will change as before. Fourth, when determining one's own system, analyze which is the harm and which is the obstacle for contradictions with one's own words and contradictions with scriptural words. And analyze which is the harm and which is the obstacle for both one's own words and scriptural words. The first is that for the contradiction between the direct and indirect meanings of one's own words, if the indirect meaning is established by valid cognition, it is a harm to the direct meaning, because the two are directly contradictory, and the indirect meaning has a reliable valid cognition as support. If neither the direct nor the indirect meaning is established by valid cognition, it is an obstacle, because contradictory vows are equally powerful. For the contradiction with scriptural words, there are two situations: either one previously vowed that meaning and later acknowledged the scriptural words that contradict it as valid cognition; or one previously acknowledged the scriptural words as valid cognition and later vowed the meaning that contradicts it. The first situation also has two types: obstacle and harm. The second situation also has two types. Thus, there are four types in total. The first is the situation where one previously vowed that generosity and other actions would produce happiness, and later acknowledged the scriptural words that say generosity and other actions would not produce happiness as valid cognition. The second is the situation where one previously vowed that generosity and other actions would not produce happiness, and later acknowledged the scriptural words that establish that generosity and other actions would produce happiness as valid cognition. The third is the situation where one previously acknowledged the scriptural words that say generosity and other actions would produce happiness as valid cognition, and later vowed that generosity and other actions would not produce happiness. The fourth is the situation where one previously acknow
