The way of determination. Avoiding arguments based on substance and negation. Dividing it into three established meanings. The first is: All knowable things are determined to be two parts of one pervasion, and for the two parts of one pervasion, there are no three categories of duality, because there are no three categories of non-duality. The first is established, if not, then as a sign it is only established as existing in the similar side, then the negation of turning back from the dissimilar side is not established. Because that has been promised. If admitted, then as a sign it is only established as existing in the similar side, then it does not preclude the dissimilar side. Because the reasoning that precludes the dissimilar side is not established. The second is established, if not, then as a sign it precludes the dissimilar side, then the subsequent occurrence of existing in the similar side is not established. Because that has been promised. If admitted, then as a sign it precludes the dissimilar side, then it is not established as existing in the similar side. Because the proof that establishes existence in the similar side is not established. Furthermore, there are no three categories of duality, if it is established by the non-empty all-encompassing determination of the dharma to be established, then it precludes the emptiness distinct determination. There are also no three categories of non-duality, because the dharma to be established precludes the emptiness distinct determination, so it establishes the non-empty all-encompassing determination. Therefore, the definitions of the similar side and the dissimilar side are respectively: possessing the dharma to be established and not possessing it, or, it is non-empty and emptiness. The meaning of emptiness and non-emptiness is also, according to the way of establishing that aspect, the dharma to be established is not and is, and relying on the state of possessing otherness, so it is emptiness and non-emptiness. There are also ways of establishing, establishing by way of essence being inseparable, and establishing by way of possessing otherness, and three ways of establishing relying on self-negation, such as sound is impermanent, establishing by way of essence being inseparable, the dharma to be established is impermanent, so non-empty is the similar side, and emptiness is the dissimilar side, such as establishing that where there is smoke there is fire, establishing by way of possessing otherness, the dharma to be established is having fire, so non-empty is the similar side, and emptiness is the dissimilar side, just as establishing by using the term "made" as a correct reason, just like relying on the way of negation.

When proving something, that which is not empty of the name of a valid reason in relation to its own characteristic (Tibetan: རང་ལྡོག་) is the similar class, and that which is empty is the dissimilar class. The second view is: If all knowable things can be clearly divided into two aspects, is this division aimed at the substance (Tibetan: རྫས་) or the reverse aspect (Tibetan: ལྡོག་པ་)? If it is the former, then when proving emptiness as a non-affirming negation, is the substance of the vase the similar class or the dissimilar class? If it is the former, then the impermanence of the vase also becomes a non-affirming negation; if it is the latter, then the emptiness of the vase from permanent entities will not become a non-affirming negation. If it is neither, then it contradicts the fact that the substance can be clearly divided into two aspects. If this division is aimed at the reverse aspect, then when proving that sound is impermanent, is the mere reverse aspect of knowable things the similar class or the dissimilar class? If it is the former, then permanence cannot exist in knowable things; if it is the latter, then impermanence cannot exist in knowable things. If it is neither, then it contradicts the fact that the reverse aspect can be clearly divided into two aspects. If someone asks this, then when proving a dharma that relies on substance, the substance can be clearly divided into two aspects, and even if the reverse aspect cannot be clearly divided into two aspects, there is no fault, because affirmation and negation are not performed on the reverse aspect. When proving a dharma that relies on the reverse aspect, the reverse aspect can be clearly divided into two aspects, and even if the substance cannot be clearly divided into two aspects, there is no fault, because affirmation and negation are not performed on the substance. In terms of the method of proof, there are also two types: when proving a dharma that relies on substance, proving the essence as inseparable, and proving in a way that possesses distinctions. The first is like proving that sound is impermanent from the reason of being produced. The second is like proving that there is fire somewhere from the reason of smoke. When proving a dharma that relies on the reverse aspect, one proves reliance on one's own characteristic, such as proving that the own-characteristic of being produced relies on the name of a valid reason from the reason of possessing the three aspects. The third view is: Because all knowable things can be clearly divided into two aspects, for the subject one wishes to know, the valid reason is the similar class, the contradictory reason is the dissimilar class, and the uncertain reason changes according to the circumstances. There are three refutations of the unreasonable aspects of the third view: it is unreasonable that it cannot be clearly divided into two aspects, it is unreasonable to separate substance and reverse aspect, and it is unreasonable to particularly rely on one's own characteristic. The first point is that it cannot be clearly divided into two aspects, and
