Refuting the argument of equality. Refuting the argument of understanding the meaning by implication. Refuting the argument of understanding by negating the other extreme. First: If it is said, "established as a property of the subject," just as there is a basis for confusion in the properties of the subject to be known, the similar example, and the dissimilar example, if it is said, "property of the side," then there will be a basis for confusion arising in the three: the subject to be known, the property to be proven, and the property of the collection meaning, because the term "side" applies to all three. However, there is another necessity, which is to realize that the subject to be known is a subject that can be designated by the name "side." Since the term "subject" applies as a direct name to all three subjects, there is a basis for confusion, but although the term "side" applies as a direct name to the collection meaning, there is no confusion in establishing the first aspect of the sign, because at that time, it is known as the "side" of the subject to be known, but not known as the "side" of the collection meaning subject. Second: If it is said, "established as a property of the subject," it is understood as established as a property of the subject to be known, because saying "property" establishes that its basis, the subject, exists, and saying "subject" also implies the subject to be known because it is close. This is not reasonable, because the example subject is also close. Third: If it is said, "established as a property of the subject," it is understood as established as a property of the subject to be known, because saying "existing on the similar side" and "its pervasion" already shows that it exists on the example subject. This is not reasonable, because if so, then "established as a property of the subject" is the first aspect of the sign, and "that subject is also a similar example subject." If the reasoning of negating the other extreme is not stated, it will become suspected of adding to what is already established, and if it is stated, the argument will be prolonged. Second: If "side" is said, it will become a nominal designation. If "property of the subject" is said, there is a basis for confusion, so it should be said, "established as a property of the subject to be known is the first aspect of the sign," because there is no basis for confusion and it is easy to understand. This is not reasonable, because if so, then the property of the subject to be known, subsequent and reverse, saying the three aspects, the letters are unequal and

Therefore, it is to avoid the combination of phrases such as "having the property of the subject in the similar class, and not having it in the dissimilar class" becoming problematic. In short, the reason for naming the object of knowledge as "subject" is that "property of the subject" is a property, and this is necessary. Because this avoids the source of error and the problem of phrase combination, so that the first characteristic can be easily understood. Third, it is to avoid the named being the same as the unnamed. If it is said like "property of the property," it would be like having a source of error; if it is said like "property of the subject," would it also have the same source of error? It is not the same. Although the word "subject" is a general term, when it is used with the word "property," it only refers to the object of knowledge; and when the word "property" is used with the word "property," it does not only refer to the object of knowledge. For example, the words "hand" and "head" are both general terms, but when they are used with the word "having," there is a difference, just like whether they refer to an elephant or not. Similarly, in the "Self-Commentary, Four Thousand Five Hundred Verses," it is also said: "The subject is the property, because a general approximate naming is given to the limb." If it is said that an approximate naming should not be given because it is not necessary, that is not correct. Because it is to negate that all properties are properties, because it is a part of it, so it should be understood that it is a property that can be approximately named. Therefore, it is to avoid statements such as "can be grasped by consciousness and eyes." If it is said that by saying "property," it can be expressed as a property, and that in the case where the basis is not established, by the implication of mentioning the word "property," it can be understood as the property that needs to be established, that is not correct. Because the property of the example is also approximate. Because it can be established that it exists in the example property through "pervading it." If it is said that mentioning the word "property" can be understood as the property that needs to be established, then it becomes adding on top of what is already established, so it becomes necessary to mention it. Just like through "only existing in the similar," it can be established that the reason is refuted in the dissimilar class, but it is like saying that something does not exist to something that does not exist. Therefore, even if the meaning can be understood through implication, it is said as "subject" in order to completely avoid difficult-to-understand situations.
