So! Secondly, regarding the definition, basis, and the meaning of being pure by the three examinations, there are three points. The first point is: For the reason that is established in three ways, to establish the extremely obscure dharma that one wants to establish, whatever becomes the valid reasoning of the scriptures. The second point is: The Prajnaparamita in Eight Thousand Lines, is the valid means of understanding its own teachings that existed before, because it is the scripture that is pure by the three examinations. The third point, some say: For manifest things, there is no direct perception that hinders and it is established; for hidden things, there is no inference of self-power that hinders and it is established; for extremely hidden things, the scripture that does not contradict the direct and indirect meanings of one's own words, and the prior and subsequent commitments, is the meaning of the scripture that is pure by the three examinations, this statement is not reasonable, because if it is a scripture that is pure by the three examinations, then it will pervade all three objects of measurement as the content of expression. Some say: If it shows manifest things, then the statement that there is no hindrance by direct perception, etc., is also unreasonable, because the scripture that shows sound is permanent also becomes a scripture that is pure by the three examinations. Therefore, whatever shows any of the three objects of measurement, and when showing it, there is no hindrance by the valid means that is appropriate, and there is no contradiction between the direct and indirect meanings of one's own words, and the prior and subsequent commitments, that scripture is the meaning of being pure by the three examinations. Thirdly, explaining the reason of fame, it is divided into two points: refuting the view that does not acknowledge the reason of fame, and establishing the view that acknowledges the reason of fame. The first point is: Some people think that there is no real reason of fame, because there are hindrances from both scripture and reasoning for its existence. The hindrance of scripture is: The previously mentioned adornment and entourage, etc., and Kashmir Jnanasri, what is said that reliance is the reason of the result, and fame is the reason of nature, is because those are only said to be their images. Reasoning also hinders, if that object is not a valid means, then it will pervade not understanding that object in accordance with the reality of things, and the reality of things can be changed into others only through names or wishes, because the inference of fame is a valid means. If you say that the fault of scripture hindering is not there, then it has been said before, and the fault of reasoning hindering is also not there, for the meaning of conforming or not conforming to the reality of things, does it depend on whether it is established or not? Or does it depend on whether there is a valid means of support or not? If it is the former

Moreover, the various establishments of names, symbols, one, different, contradictory, related, etc., should not contradict the actual state of affairs, because they are not established in meaning. According to the latter, even with the inference of fame, that object can be understood in accordance with the actual state of affairs, because it can be expressed by the name of the moon with a rabbit, and there is a reliable valid cognition as a support. There is also no fault that the actual state of affairs can be changed merely by convention or intention, because that which can be expressed by the name of the moon with a rabbit cannot be changed into something that cannot be expressed by convention or intention. Secondly, regarding the three aspects of characteristic, basis, and three modes of reasoning, the first is that for the establishment of the main fame arising from sound, which is to be established by oneself, it is the reason of nature with complete three modes. Secondly, some say that there are two types of reasons, negative and affirmative. The first is: "The one with a mountain, as the subject, cannot be directly expressed by the word 'moon' because it exists in the realm of conceptualization." This is not reasonable, because if it is a reason of fame, then it must be a reason of nature, as explained in all the root texts and commentaries, and the one with a mountain cannot be directly expressed by the word 'moon' because it is not a fame arising from sound. In our own system, there are two distinctions: the separation of fame as real and imputed, and the identification of the reason of fame. The first is: if fame is a characteristic, then it must be an expressive sound, because if that is the case, then all things must be able to be expressed by it. That all things can be expressed by an expressive sound is imputed fame, because it is the imputation of the name of fame to the object of fame. For example, just as the harm caused by the object of both direct perception and inference is imputed as the harm caused by both direct perception and inference. Likewise, it is said in the Fifty Verses on the Guru: "The Dharma that arises from conventions is expressed by the sound of fame. The objects to be measured by direct perception, etc., are also expressed by imputing the sound of measurement." In this way, for imputed fame, it is said in the scriptures as fame arising from sound. Secondly, there are two establishments: the establishment of the object as expressible and the establishment of the object-possessor as expressible. The first is: the one with a mountain, as the subject, can be expressed by the word 'moon' because it exists in the realm of conceptualization. The second is: the word 'moon', as the subject, can be applied to all things because it is a sound that applies according to intention.
