Because the order of listening wisdom that becomes its cause arises in that way. Fourth, Dharmakirti (Phyogs glang) said that the mind that grasps the sign is a distinction, is an apparent perception of seeming perception; and he said that the distinction between perception and inference is decided by memory; in this Commentary on Valid Cognition, it is said that the result of the sign and the subject are the cause of inference; Lha said that the characteristic of the sign is the mind that grasps smoke and what is produced, is the mind that grasps the sign; Shas said that the object of the sign is the subsequent arising of objective perception; Nyi sbas said that the knowledge of the sign is not the object of a real thing; in the previously quoted Commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning, it is said, "We think that the nature of what is to be established as a sign arises from smoke and what is made, etc., but we do not think that it arises from the certainty of the three characteristics of the sign." The meaning of these statements abides on this very system, which seems to be unseen by others before. In short, if you know that the sign-grasping mind is the mind that grasps the basis of distinction, and the certainty of the three characteristics is the mind that grasps the distinguishing dharma, then this system will become self-liberated. Second, regarding the characteristics, the Treasury of Reasoning says, "The characteristic of the sign is the exclusion of others." It means that when what is made becomes a sign in establishing that sound is impermanent, then which is the true sign, the own-character or the meaning of sound? In the face of the distinction that grasps what is made as the true sign that establishes that sound is impermanent, only what is made, which does not distinguish between the meaning of sound and the own-character, is the true sign, because it does not grasp the meaning of sound as the true sign, nor does it grasp the own-character as the true sign, but only grasps what is made as the true sign. When the subsequent distinction is made, the own-character is not the true sign, because it cannot directly affirm or negate the own-character. The meaning of sound is the true sign, because what appears to the previous distinction is the true sign, and that what is made does not go beyond the meaning of sound. Therefore, what appears to the distinction that grasps what is made as the true sign that establishes that sound is impermanent, that what is made is the exclusion of others, therefore the exclusion of others is the true sign. Here, regarding the existence or non-existence of the true sign in that regard, and the pervasiveness or non-pervasiveness of the fact that if the basis is established, then it must be the true sign, and whether or not what is made, such as what is made, is the true sign regardless of the arrangement, etc.,

Since it seemed unnecessary to explain the views of the Madhyamaka school, I have not written about it. Those that need to be referred to nowadays are explained elsewhere. Third, the detailed classification of the signified is: In the 'Treasury of Reasoning,' it says: 'Possessing that characteristic, the classifications of reasons are many. Dharmakirti, through the mode of combination, established them as three.' Thus, from the aspect of things, there are five classifications, and from the aspect of combination, there is one, making six. However, if classified from the perspective of including all types of reasons, there are ten: classified from the aspects of combination, mode of entry, the proving aspect, the mode of proof, the dharma to be proven, the relationship, the establishment, the mode of establishment, the debater, and the mode of expression. The first is from the aspect of combination, including the three reasons of effect, nature, and non-apprehension. Because all negative reasons ultimately converge on the reason of being possible to appear but not apprehended, it can be established on a single example. The two affirmative reasons need to be established on separate examples. Regarding this, in the 'Commentary on Valid Cognition,' starting from the reason of non-apprehension, the detailed explanation of fallacious reasons is discussed at the end, and the reasons of effect and nature are mentioned first. In the 'Ascertainment of Valid Cognition,' starting from the reasons of effect and nature, the relationship between the dharma and the reason is introduced as the entry to the proving aspect, and the reason of non-apprehension is mentioned first. In the 'Treasury of Reasoning' as well, the order appears in this way. Among these, first, for the correct reason of non-apprehension, there are two aspects: characteristic and classification. The first has two aspects: refutation and establishment. The first is: Some say that a correct reason of that type, if it is to be held as the dharma to be proven of that type, then it must be a non-affirming negation. Others say that on the basis of other similarities, adding what is to be held as the actual dharma to be proven and what is to be held as merely spoken dharma to be proven, there are three. The first is: 'What is made,' is the subject. If your reason is to be held as the dharma to be proven that sound is permanent, then it must be a non-affirming negation, because you are a correct reason of non-apprehension of that type. If you concede, then 'impermanent,' is the subject. It is there, because it is the indirect dharma to be proven of that type. The second and third are, establishing
