It is like one body with two moons. That object of focus is also necessarily focused on that experience. What is called the reason of nature is that one substance is said to be the established dharma. Thus, it is the reason of nature. Regarding those meanings, when the Sutra School and the Real Aspectarians establish it, they establish one substance. When the False Aspectarians establish it, they only establish the negation of other substances. Third, there are two: negation and affirmation. First, some say: Blue and its apprehending valid cognition are necessarily perceived together, because the mind that perceives blue, if it perceives blue, then that mind is pervaded by perceiving the valid cognition of blue. If that mind perceives the valid cognition of blue, then it is pervaded by that mind perceiving blue. If you say so, then the wisdom of the Buddha and the consciousness of ordinary beings are necessarily perceived together. The mind that perceives the wisdom of the Buddha, if it perceives the wisdom of the Buddha, then it is pervaded by it perceiving the consciousness of ordinary beings. If that mind perceives the consciousness of ordinary beings, then it is pervaded by that mind perceiving the wisdom of the Buddha. Again, some say: Those two are necessarily perceived together, if the valid cognition that perceives blue is the substance of valid cognition, then the substance of valid cognition that perceives blue must be. If it is the latter, then the former must also be, if you say so, then apply it to the wisdom of the Buddha and the consciousness of ordinary beings. If the self-awareness manifest that experiences the consciousness of ordinary beings, the subject, is the Buddha's, then because it is the ordinary being's. If you think so, then accept it, whatever is the substance of valid cognition, because that valid cognition perceives the wisdom of the Buddha. The former reason is accepted, because the common clear division based on things is accepted as one substance. Second, according to one's own system, according to the False Aspectarians, simultaneous appearance is when objects and time appear together. The object of focus is appearance or apprehension. Certainty is pervasion. According to the Real Aspectarians, the object of focus is experience, and the rest is the same as before. Therefore, according to the False Aspectarians, any object and subject that appear simultaneously and differently are pervaded by appearing or apprehending together. According to the Real Aspectarians, it is pervaded by experience. Some say that it is unreasonable to say that the root consciousness of the appearance of two moons is like the appearance of two moons to it, because the sign and

Because common examples do not have the distinction of being difficult or easy to ascertain. As it says in the *Examination of the Object of Observation*: "Not a substance, like two moons." And in the *Pramāṇavārttika*: "Dual moon due to mistaken consciousness." In its commentary, Deva says: "For example, just as someone with impaired vision perceives a single moon as two." Dharmottara says: "Like two moons mutually." And the *Tattvasaṃgraha* says: "If they were different substances, there would be no sign, like the appearance of two moons." Because only the appearance of two moons is taken as an example. If, when the causal condition, the sense faculty, is free from the cause of error, one of the two moons previously seen appears, and the other does not, then it is thought that there is no following of the sign of simultaneous ascertainment. Later, when free from the cause of error, the one moon that appears is not the appearance of one of the two previous moons, because both of the two moons that previously appeared were appearances of mistaken sense consciousness, while the one moon that later appears is an appearance of non-mistaken sense consciousness. Third, the property of the subject is established by the power of direct perception of self-awareness, and the subsequent pervasion is established on the form of the two moons appearing to the mistaken sense consciousness in the concordant example, because the reason, simultaneous ascertainment, and the probandum, not being a different substance, both follow it. The counter-pervasion is that the reason of simultaneous ascertainment is prevented in the discordant side, a different substance. In general, difference has two types: unequal time and equal time. The first, because of unequal time, simultaneous ascertainment is precluded. The second has two types: difference in nature and difference in substance. The first is the concordant example here, and the latter precludes the reason of simultaneous ascertainment, because the two are simultaneous in time and different in substance, so there is no connection. Fourth, refuting objections has two parts: refuting objections to the nature of the sign, and refuting objections to the tenets of the Mind-Only school. The first is: The teacher Guṇarakṣita of the Vaibhāṣika school says: Your reason of simultaneous ascertainment is not valid, because it has three faults: unestablished, contradictory, and uncertain. The first is: 'Because of simultaneous apprehension, the mind apprehends two; if you assert one, it is unestablished.' That is, many people look at the same moon.
