explained. In short, or the fruit of self-awareness, and so on. Here, the kind of fruit that is one's own experience. These are all shown as the fruit of self-awareness. Considering this, Chokchok (Chos mchog) said that here, the second way of meaning is to measure meaning. The apprehended aspect is valid cognition, self-awareness is the fruit, so it is taught. The early Tibetans also thought that this was the only explicitly taught valid cognition result. However, the valid cognition result considered by some later Tibetans does not appear in the texts. The second has five: not a Buddhist tenet; not any of the four tenet proponents, but the tenet established by the father and son Chena (Phyogs glang) through the reasoning of factual force; only the tenet of the Sutra School; the tenet of the Mind-Only School; it is considered to be the tenet of both the Sutra and Mind-Only Schools. The first is: Some people think that this third valid cognition result is not a Buddhist tenet, but was established by the Mind-Only School in order to lead the Sutra School. The way of leading is that it does not actually negate external objects, but negates the way in which sense consciousness knows external objects. Because the appearance to sense consciousness at its own time is denied by the external object, the external object is indirectly negated. This is unreasonable. Then, what is the reason for not actually negating external objects? If external objects are negated, it will not be possible to lead the Sutra School. If so, then it is also unreasonable to actually negate the appearance to sense consciousness at its own time being directed by the external object. Because the reason is the same. Such a valid cognition result, as the subject, it is also unreasonable that you, the maker, the Mind-Only School, established it in order to lead the Sutra School. Because you are also considered unreasonable by the Sutra School. It is also considered unreasonable by the Mind-Only School. Both reasons are admitted. The second is: Some people think that this third valid cognition result is not the tenet of any of the four Buddhist tenet proponents, but is the valid cognition result established by the father and son Chena through the reasoning of factual force. To this, Nyabon (Nya dbon) thinks that there is no scriptural authority of the four Buddhist schools, and the explanations of Vajragarbha (rDo rje snying po), Aryadeva (Ārya deva), Jetari (Zeta ri), Sahajasiddha (Lhan cig skyes pa'i rdo rje), Maitrīpa, Bodhibhadra (Byang chub bzang po), etc., harm the statement that the third fruit is not the tenet of any of those four schools. This statement refutes this view.

Furthermore, there is also the fault of attributing it to the father and son Dignāga, because the valid result established by their reasoning of the power of objects is not the tenet of any of the four Buddhist schools. The third is that some say: external objects are the objects to be measured; after the appearance of the aspect of the object to be grasped, the consciousness that does not newly deceive in relation to it is valid cognition; if analyzed, it is the self-cognizance result, but if not analyzed, it is the object-consciousness result. Also, how can it be established that the self-cognizance result of directly experiencing what appears to oneself, where the object to be measured and the valid cognition are the same, is only the tenet of the Sautrāntikas? Because by making external objects the objects to be measured, it is not the tenet of the Mind-Only school; and because it is said to be the self-cognizance result when analyzed, it is not the tenet of the Vaibhāṣikas and the Madhyamikas, so the tenet of the Sautrāntikas is implicitly established. From the Hetutattvopadeśa: "Here, this reason is not intended to negate external objects." And in the early commentary on Lha's (Candrakīrti's) "At that time, this object appearance itself": "When, in this way, self-cognizance is also said to be the result in relation to external objects." And Jñānaśrī said: "Thus, after accepting external objects, one speaks of valid cognition and so on." So, what is the difference between this and the first valid result? There, the main thing is to negate the other substance of the valid result, but here, the main thing is to negate the Vaibhāṣikas' non-appearance of the aspect of the object in the sense consciousness. This is how they think. Applying this only to the Sautrāntikas is somewhat unreasonable, because this is what distinguishes the valid results of both the Sūtra and Mind schools, whether analyzed or not. If it were only the tenet of the Sautrāntikas, then after the valid result of object consciousness is complete, until the valid result of aspect consciousness arises, there would be arising consciousness. It is also not established that it is not the tenet of the Mind-Only school merely by saying that external objects are the objects to be measured, because they also nominally accept external objects as the objects to be measured. It is also unreasonable to make the aspect of the object to be grasped, which does not newly deceive in relation to it after the appearance of the aspect of the object to be grasped, the valid cognition of the grasped aspect, because here it is the occasion to establish non-deception and realization as the things to be established, and then to establish their means of establishment, not the occasion to make them the means of establishment and establish other things to be established. It is also unreasonable to think that it is self-cognizance when analyzed, but object-consciousness result when not analyzed, because then, the self-cognizance result
