And, knowing that it is not determined by one. Thus it is said. Moreover, the meaning of a special atom has already been explained. Non-special ones are those that, no matter how many atoms gather, cannot generate sense consciousness, and are established as non-special, but it is not necessarily determined by each individual atom. Although atoms are the objective condition of sense consciousness, they are the appearance of coarse forms applied to sense consciousness, not the appearance of atoms. Because sense consciousness manifests coarse forms, but not the appearance of atoms. If it is thought that coarse things are falsely imputed by conceptualization, so they should not appear to sense consciousness? It is very true, but the appearance of coarse things and the meaning of coarse things are not the same, because the former is the apprehended aspect, and the latter is imputation. Second, there are three types of mental direct perception: identifying the entity, determining the nature, and refuting disputes. The first has two parts: examining the definition and classification, and examining the three conditions. In the first part, some say that the definition of mental direct perception is: a non-conceptual, non-erroneous awareness that arises from the mental faculty, which is its own unique and unshared dominating condition. It is divided into two types: meaning-cognizing mental direct perception and self-cognizing mental direct perception. The definitions are, in order: an unerring other-cognizing consciousness that arises from the mental faculty, which is its own unique and unshared dominating condition, and a self-cognizing consciousness. The first is divided into five types: form-apprehending mental direct perception, etc. The second includes the direct perception of knowing others' minds and the self-awareness direct perception of experiencing mental direct perception, etc. The establishment of this is: the direct perception of knowing others' minds is a mental direct perception, because it shares the same basis as mental consciousness and direct perception, so it is said. It is not reasonable, the direct perception of a student's yoga is that, because of that. The sense direct perception of a student should be the direct perception of yoga, because it shares the same basis as the consciousness of a yogi and direct perception. The pervasion is accepted. If it is sense direct perception, because it is a unique cause, its expression is made by the senses. Because it is actually shown in this context, it is not pervasive. If it is mental direct perception, the mind is also with the meaning, because it is actually shown in this context, it is not pervasive. The thesis is accepted. The own system is, the definition of mental direct perception: its own unique and unshared dominating condition

The condition and the immediately preceding condition are actually produced from the mind faculty, and are non-conceptual and non-erroneous consciousnesses that possess apprehended objects. The divisions are five, such as the mind-manifestation that apprehends forms. The second has three: the self-condition, the immediately preceding condition, and the objective condition. The first has two parts: a general explanation of the self-condition of mind consciousness, and a specific explanation of the self-condition of mind-manifestation. The first is: According to those who assert eight aggregates of consciousness, it is asserted as afflicted mind. As it says in the Sutra of the Abhidharma, "Consciousness arises from mind." And in the Compendium, "Consciousness relies on mind." And in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, "Similar to the five." Just as the five sense consciousnesses each have a unique self-condition, so too the mind consciousness needs a unique self-condition, and therefore it must be the afflicted mind. According to those who assert six aggregates of consciousness, those six aggregates themselves are the self-condition of mind consciousness, because "In order to thoroughly establish the basis of the sixth, the eighteen elements are asserted." In order to establish the unique self-condition of the sixth mind consciousness, the six aggregates of consciousness are established as one mind element, and thus it is explained as the eighteen elements. Regarding this, the meaning of "immediately preceding" as stated in the upper and lower Abhidharma has already been explained. Even according to those who assert seven aggregates, in the absence of afflicted mind, it must be asserted that this (sixth consciousness) is the unique self-condition of mind consciousness, otherwise, it would follow that there is no unique self-condition of mind consciousness during the path of transcendence. Considering this, the Compendium of Topics states that there are two types of mind: afflicted mind and the immediately preceding sixth consciousness. The second is: When sense consciousness arises continuously, the five sense consciousnesses are the unique self-condition of mind-manifestation, because if it is mind-manifestation, it must be mind-manifestation that cognizes objects, and the mind consciousness cannot act as the unique self-condition of mind-manifestation that cognizes objects, because its immediately preceding condition and self-condition are the same entity, and that immediately preceding condition must be sense consciousness, as determined by the Pramāṇavārttika.
