So! Secondly, when the Mind-Only school makes a commitment, it refutes the way in which appearances that appear to rely on consciousness are considered to be truly established, and commits to non-appearance. Therefore, (the scriptures) say, "Therefore, for objects and consciousness, coarse appearances do not exist." Therefore, if the debate between the Sutra school and the Mind-Only school here is in terms of the Sutra school, then the first syllogism is not established, because in the view of the Sutra school, the external object that produces the image itself is taken as the object to be grasped. If it is in terms of the Mind-Only school, then it is accepted, because in the view of the Mind-Only school, the object as the object to be grasped and the subject are not established. Considering this meaning, in the "Treasury of Reasoning" it says, "As long as external objects are acknowledged, then the cause is called the object to be grasped. When the knowable enters internally, objects and subjects are not established." It also says, "Although the measurability of the way of entering, both self-characteristics and general characteristics, are spoken of, the basis of entering is limited to self-characteristics. For this, the external object to be grasped is the view of the Sutra school, for the Mind-Only school, there is no establishment of an object to be grasped." This is the concluding verse. The classification of knowable objects has been well explained. Secondly, regarding the knowing consciousness, there are three aspects: nature, classification, aggregation, and determining the meaning of these. First, the nature of consciousness is knowing, and the nature of knowing is clarity and experience. Some people think that knowing objects is the nature of consciousness, which is unreasonable, because if that were the case, the object known by consciousness must be acknowledged as the nature of the object, so the understanding of both consciousness and object would have the fault of mutual dependence. If the meaning of knowing objects refers to knowing an object different from oneself, then for self-awareness, there is no object different from oneself, so there would be the fault of not being consciousness. Furthermore, knowing objects should not be the nature of consciousness, because establishing as an object depends on consciousness, while establishing as consciousness does not depend on the object. Therefore, (the scriptures) say, "Therefore, consciousness can establish objects, but objects can in no way establish consciousness." Second, classifying from the perspective of objects, there are two types: conceptual and non-conceptual. Classifying from the perspective of essence, there are two types: mistaken and non-mistaken. From the perspective of the way of entering, like cutting a tree, there are three types: not entering the object, entering, and having entered. These three ways of classifying are also the agent

It is separated from the perspective of the object. From the perspective of the subject, it is only attributed to self-cognition. If it is a consciousness with dualistic appearance, then its own apprehended aspect must be self-cognizant perception. If it is a consciousness in which dualistic appearance has subsided, then its own nature must be self-cognizant perception in which dualistic appearance has subsided. The third has two aspects: refutation and establishment. The first has two aspects: stating the position and refuting it. The first has two: general classification and detailed explanation of non-valid cognitions. The first is that the previous scholars, Phywa-pa, etc., said that all types of consciousness are included in seven
