Because it is established as impermanent. Third, if it is said that the reason is not established, because the reason for establishing sound as impermanent is not correct. It contradicts what is said in "Destruction exists only in relation, therefore sound is indeed impermanent," and "Whatever exists is destroyed, like a pot, sound also exists, which is a sign of its own nature." Furthermore, it is unreasonable for the Mimamsakas to believe that the sound of the Vedas is permanent, which is refuted by many logical arguments of glorious Dharmakirti, because the sound of the Vedas is permanent, which abides in reality. Fourth, if it is said that when sound is established as impermanent by the sign of being created, it is establishing the self-character of sound as impermanent, so there is no fault of contradicting the above-mentioned scriptures, is that what you think? Then, is it that you are making affirmations and negations by assuming that the exclusion of others from sound is its own character? Or are you making affirmations and negations about its own character? According to the former, it contradicts the promise that you do not establish the impermanence of sound from the sign of being created, but rather that you establish the impermanence of the self-character of sound. According to the latter, it contradicts the fact that the three aspects of the sign, the subject, and the object of the past measure are considered to be exclusions of others. Furthermore, in the scriptures that you have acknowledged as your own measure, in the commentary on "Substance and difference, general and specific, establishment and exclusion of others, conceptual and non-conceptual, other distinctions are explained elsewhere, I wish to explain according to the scriptures," it is explained that substance and general are objects, conceptual and non-conceptual are minds, and appearance and exclusion are ways of holding, and this is contradictory, because things and substances are generally acknowledged. In the biography of the Dharma Lord written by Lopön Thamsed Khyenpa, Kache Panchen said, "I don't know much about bits and pieces, blue exists in reality." Therefore, it is said that he understood all the key points of exclusion of others, which is also contradictory, because blue is generally acknowledged. So, how did he understand all the key points of exclusion of others? Blue and sound, etc., from the standpoint of their own self-character, abide in their respective situations, so there is no affirmation or negation to be done, however, because there are superimpositions such as considering blue as non-blue and sound as permanent, in order to eliminate all superimpositions, affirmations and negations are made, and at that time, establishing sound as impermanent is the wisdom of excluding others.

The view that "sound is permanent" is eliminated. Its meaning is that, regarding sound, without distinguishing between substance and negation, only sound is proven to be impermanent. Therefore, those who believe that sound is permanent hold the sound that exists in reality and the sound of negation as one. It is acceptable to do so in application, but if done so when explaining the nature of things, one will not understand the key to other-exclusion. As the Great Lord said, "When explaining, be skilled by distinguishing; when applying, attain by confusing as one." The fifth meaning is that when saying "sound is permanent," one is actually saying that sound is permanent, and the implication of saying "sound" is saying impermanence. The second question is: If wood is established as a substance, is it substance-identical or substance-different with Śyāma (Sanskrit, black)? One should ask in return: Is Pramāṇa (Sanskrit, प्रमाण, measure) Pratyakṣa (Sanskrit, प्रत्यक्ष, direct perception) or Anumāṇa (Sanskrit, अनुमान, inference)? If one says that the Pramāṇa that becomes cognition is Anumāṇa, and the Pramāṇa that becomes non-cognition is Pratyakṣa, and there is no other Pramāṇa, then the wood that becomes Śyāma is substance-identical with Śyāma, and the wood that is not Śyāma is substance-different with Śyāma, and there is no other wood. This should be analogized. If one says that wood, as the subject, must be either substance-identical or substance-different with Śyāma, because both you and Śyāma are established as substances. Then, Pramāṇa, as the subject, must be either Pratyakṣa or Anumāṇa, because it is a Pramāṇa. It is the same until the end of the kalpa. If one says that by examining and negating whether a universal is substance-identical or substance-different, it does not refute the establishment of a universal as a substance, because if it is established as a substance, it must be either substance-identical or substance-different, which is not pervasive. Then, by examining and negating whether the illusion consciousness of the appearance of two moons is Pratyakṣa or Anumāṇa, it does not refute that it is a Pramāṇa, because if it is a Pramāṇa, it must be either Pratyakṣa or Anumāṇa, which is not pervasive. Nowadays, some children, both merit and wisdom are equally low, both shame and embarrassment are equally abandoned, both the meaning of the scriptures and the afterlife are equally abandoned. Many people say in unison that in order to help insist on pervasion in the number of Pramāṇas, they say that Pramāṇa is Pratyakṣa. When asked for proof, Pramāṇa, as the subject, is Pratyakṣa, because it is the clear consciousness that appears as its own characteristic. If it is not established, then its own characteristic
