Refutation: Wood Dharma, it follows that Śāpa and Established Truth are the same entity, because they arise and cease simultaneously. If not, Wood Dharma, it follows that you are permanent, you are an entity simultaneous with Śāpa, when Śāpa disintegrates, you remain without disintegrating. Therefore, those who admit that one entity does not pervade an Established Truth entity must admit permanent entities, because they admit that two things in the same entity now, in the second moment, one disintegrates and the other remains. If, when an iron lump becomes red-hot, the iron powder and the fire powder are the same entity, then later only the iron is seen, and the fire powder is not seen, isn't it? This is a statement that does not distinguish between constant and momentary. Both the iron powder and the fire powder at the time of becoming red-hot disintegrate in the second moment of their own establishment. The later iron powder is not admitted to be the same entity as the previous fire powder. The fourth and fifth are also unreasonable, because the Sāṃkhya school also does not consider the general appearance to be coextensive and equal, nor do they consider it to be coextensive and equal. They also do not think that if there is a general appearance of a cow, then there are white cows and variegated cows. Nor do they consider the general principal and appearances to be coextensive and equal. Second, refutation by scripture. In the Pramāṇavārttika, it says: "The wisdom of the general appearance is also false." It also says: "By the object of discriminative knowledge, the meaning of words is imputed." It also says: "The general appearance is the nature of non-entity, therefore it is not the object of free use, therefore the Dharma of the general appearance is not established by direct perception." The Catuḥśataka says: "Furthermore, is this idea of understanding the general appearance as something else only present on its own basis, or does it exist everywhere like space, etc.? If it only exists on its own basis, then in places empty of pots, etc., when pots, etc. arise, how can the general appearance that exists on the entity of a different place exist in those places? Because it does not enter the entity that arises from the previous entity, because it has been admitted that it is without function. Because the thing that abides in another place does not move from there, it pervades between the two.\

He also said that it is not because it possesses things of different places. Therefore, for things that arise and perish together, everything will be closely connected to everything. If it is not so, it will not become what is called "one," or it is just a different name, because it is said so after acknowledging the meaning. He also said that because that also has no arising, it does not come from anything. If that is the case, who can bear the burden of surpassing fools? Furthermore, he said, what illogical behavior has this person manifested, so that he relies on so many tiring common discourses? Furthermore, in the root verses of the treatise, it says, "The object of expression itself is not real." And so on, it speaks of eight reasons for establishing that universals are not real. And, "That is not permissible, therefore it is without inherent existence. That is the characteristic of non-existence." And in its commentary: The god asks, why is it that just being impermissible is non-existent? Answer: It is like this, it is the characteristic of non-existence. It is like this, because it is devoid of all the power to perform a function, this is the characteristic of non-existence. If the universal also exists, then it is non-existent. Therefore, the universal abides in non-existence. And, "It is the opposite of what has been said, that is what is desired as its own characteristic." In the commentary to that, the god says: It is the opposite of what has been said, and whatever is not to be expressed 1—that itself, and what can be expressed as other 2, for the meaning of non-duality, the object of wisdom that appears without distinction is not 3 similar, and not 4 common, 5 whatever is, the one who realizes without relying on the memory of signs 6, whatever appears to the self-grasping consciousness as being devoid of the nature of others, and 7, whatever has the power to perform a function 8—that is what is desired as its own characteristic. And, in the self-commentary on "Whatever has the power to perform a function is truly existent," it says: Therefore, it is what produces distinctions, but not the universal, therefore, only that is real, thus, whatever has the power to perform a function, that is truly existent, from the real is only distinction, because it is established only from that. In the explanation of that, Shakya Blo says: Only distinction is the producer, therefore, the producer that
