If asked: Is it because those causes do not generate illusion? It is not established, because in the "illusion etc." of "illusion etc.", there are statements such as "arising from beginningless habitual imprints, completely accomplished by conceptual thought" and "whatever illusion is beginningless, transformed by long-term habituation", in order to guide the cause of illusion mentioned from these places. Third, then, are both non-conceptual and non-illusory necessary to eliminate dissimilar classes? Or is it only to eliminate wrong conceptual thoughts? Some say: Both are necessary to eliminate dissimilar classes. This statement is unreasonable, because all conceptual thought must be illusion. Therefore, although correctly speaking, non-illusory knowledge can eliminate all dissimilar classes, the reason for mentioning non-conceptual is to dispel the wrong conceptual thoughts of schools such as the Samkhya and Vaisheshika, who believe that sense consciousness has conceptual thought but is not illusory, and the wrong conceptual thoughts of some who believe that non-illusion towards the object of apprehension can also serve the function of illusion, and therefore inference is also non-illusory. Then, since the Mind-Only school believes that all directly perceived sense consciousness arises as the illusion of dualistic grasping of grasper and grasped due to the power of beginningless habitual imprints, it would not consider directly perceived sense consciousness to be non-illusory. If so, would non-conceptual, non-illusory knowledge not be considered the definition of direct perception? In response to this, some say: This definition is only intended for the Sautrantika school. Some also believe that although they accept this definition, the meaning of non-illusion refers to the wisdom arising from stable habitual imprints, so there is no fault. Still others believe that although they accept this definition, all directly perceived sense consciousness is illusion, so it is not direct perception. Among these three statements, the first is unreasonable, because the definition of direct perception is not separately stated in the Mind-Only school. The second is also unreasonable, because the stability or instability of habitual imprints is the conventional establishment of truth and falsehood and validity and invalidity, not from the perspective of ultimate truth. Otherwise, inference itself must also be admitted to be non-illusory because of stable habitual imprints, so it is self-contradictory. The third is also unreasonable, because in the Mind-Only school, directly perceived sense consciousness has self-awareness manifesting

This is because all parts must be explicitly acknowledged. Therefore, Jamyang Lama's view is that even if such a definition is accepted in the Vijnanavada school, the meaning of non-erroneousness is not accepted as such. In the 'Commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning,' it says, 'Some people think that according to the Vijnanavada school, non-deception is desirable.' Therefore, taking non-deception as the meaning of non-erroneousness is established in the Vijnanavada school. Then, inference would also become non-erroneous, because it is non-deceptive. If asked this way, for knowledge itself, non-deception is not an established reason for the object to be measured that is different from the substance, but for the object to be measured that has become its own substance, non-erroneousness is self-cognizant perception, where would there be fault? This is not the same as the Sautrantika school, because the Sautrantika school also considers inference to be valid for external objects. Those with fortune, contemplate well! Do not be afraid of the slander of the unfortunate. Second, there are five divisions of the signified: the basis from which to divide, the nature of what is divided, the reason for dividing, the meaning of how to divide, and the definite number of divisions. The first is: merely non-erroneous knowledge. The second is: sense faculty, mind, self-awareness, and yogic perception, there are four. The third is: from the perspective of the object, there are two kinds of object-knowing perception that know other objects, self-awareness perception that knows self-objects, and yogic perception that knows without self and other. From the perspective of the basis, there are two kinds of object-knowing that rely on the sense faculty, self-awareness that relies solely on other-power, and yogic perception that relies on samadhi. From the perspective of the person, there are two kinds of perception: the perception of ordinary beings and the perception of noble beings. The fourth is: it is not a difference that negates sameness, because all four are entities. Nor is it merely that the essence is the same but the reverse is different, because the other three perceptions are different substances. Nor are they different substances, because the other three perceptions are the same in essence as self-awareness perception. Therefore, the other three perceptions are different substances, and these three are the same in essence as self-awareness perception, but they are different from the perspective of the object. The fifth is: some people divide perception into four, but this is not a definite number that excludes other limits by reason, because mind perception is not valid, so it cannot exclude a smaller number.
