Because it cannot be guided by it. The pervasion (everything included) is acknowledged. If it is thought so, then, the later determining valid cognition does not determine your validity of it, which is too much. Thirdly, inference can also be divided into self-determination and other-determination. Anything that has determination over its own realm can be divided into two, because it is a valid cognition that can be guided by its own power. The fifth way is the same in meaning as the way of distinguishing from the definition, so it appears in one's own tenet. Thirdly, there are seven aspects to identify the reasonable side: the way in which which scriptures establish self-determination and other-determination; the way in which which possessor of the realm establishes self-determination and other-determination; the way in which which realm establishes these two ways; identifying the definition and the defined; measuring whether the valid cognition pervades these two; combining with the scriptural authority of the knowable; and refuting disputes. First, when showing the general definition of valid cognition, the real definition is: valid cognition is non-deceptive knowledge. The three faults of non-pervasion, over-pervasion, and impossibility are eliminated by "also arising from sound," and so on. For the defined, the valid cognition that determines the definition is: from oneself, realize one's own nature. And so on. In this regard, in the Sutra Pitaka, it has been determined that the defined can only be manifest and inferential. Moreover, here it will also be explained in the chapter on manifest valid cognition, so if you want to determine that there are two qualities of non-deception and knowledge on top of these two defined, then from where do you determine it? It is determined from the determination led by valid cognition. So, is this determination guided by oneself? Or is it guided by other power? If it is said that one can guide oneself on the aspect of the existence of knowledge, then it is said: from oneself, realize one's own nature. The so-called from oneself means from one's own experience, self-awareness, and manifest valid cognition. The so-called nature of oneself is the meaning of knowledge, the part that eliminates and clarifies. The so-called realization means to realize in a way that can guide determination. In short, if it is a valid cognition that is commonly referred to in all worldly terms, then, from the two aspects of its definition, the part of knowledge is the self-determined valid cognition, which is the meaning of pervasion. Moreover, this is affirmative in the meaning of knowledge, but it is not necessarily in terms of expression, which will be explained below. For the existence of non-deception, there is both self-guidance and other-guidance, which means:

From the terminology, it is the valid cognition itself. The so-called terminology is the terminology of the definitive mind, which is definitive knowledge. From this, the previous valid cognition is determined to be the opposite of the meaning of valid cognition, which is non-deception itself, and not the terminology of valid cognition. The definitive knowledge that is guided by its own power is called self-cognition, and the valid cognition that arises after itself and is guided by another is called other-cognition. Therefore, both self-cognition and other-cognition, which rely on the aspect of non-deception, are also explained by this treatise alone. Nowadays, the view that the first verse only indicates self-cognition and the second verse only indicates other-cognition is like following the horns of a rabbit without understanding the basis on which self-cognition and other-cognition are established. Because "one's own nature" and "valid cognition" are separately explained as the basis for establishing self-cognition and other-cognition. In short, the first verse indicates that understanding the aspect of the characteristic is only self-cognition, and the second verse indicates that the non-deception of the aspect of the characteristic has both self-cognition and other-cognition. Even if children do not understand whether this is the intention of glorious Dharmakirti, please consult the Dakini Dharma protectors for proof. Second, it is not the case that determining by the mind's substance itself is self-cognition, and determining by another mind's substance is other-cognition. If that were the case, then all direct perception would be other-cognition, and there would be such a fault. Therefore, the definitive knowledge guided by the mind's substance itself with its own power, and the definitive knowledge guided by the power of another valid cognition, these two are the minds of the determiner. Third, taking the example of the root consciousness that apprehends blue, the object is blue, the subject is the root consciousness that apprehends blue, the signified is valid cognition, and the characteristic is non-deception. Among these four, it has already been explained that there is no distinction from the perspective of the subject and the signified, and distinguishing from the perspective of the object and the characteristic is the same meaning. Because when explaining the valid cognition that determines the characteristic on the subject, it is necessary to distinguish from the perspective of non-deception of the object, and in order to determine the non-deception of the object, it is also necessary to determine the object itself. Fourth, the characteristic of self-cognizing valid cognition. Any valid cognition, for its own object of measurement, the determination is guided by its own power, therefore, self-experience, self-awareness, and direct perception are non-deceptive for oneself and one's own object of measurement, which is the determination guided by its own power. The other-cognizing valid cognition's
