In terms of classification by method, there are four: appearing object, apprehended object, fixated object, and entering object. In terms of the way of entering, there are two: self and general. In terms of the object of entering, there are two: manifest and hidden. In terms of essence, there are two truths. The ultimate object of measurement is condensed into one: self-character. The first part has two points: a general demonstration of the four objects and individual characteristics of the four objects. The first part has four points: which texts explain the analysis of the four objects, which phenomena become the analysis of the four objects, which object-possessors have the four objects, and the way of determining the number of the four objects. The first point is: Relying on various different things, the mind appears as one. And, it also appears as different from others. This shows the appearing object of conceptualization. The texts that explain the meaning of self-character and the self-character of consciousness, which become the object of direct perception, show the appearing object of direct perception. The Compendium of Valid Cognition says: Both valid cognitions, for things, the appearances of the object-possessors are different. This shows the appearing object of both valid cognitions. Impure, exhausted earth, etc., will also appear as untrue. This shows the appearing object of non-conceptual mistaken consciousness. Apart from the object of cause, there is nothing that can be called apprehension. And so on, the scriptures quoted above show the apprehended object. Because it does not fixate like the appearance of reality, the second is considered to be mistaken. This shows the fixated object. Because from where a person can accomplish things, knowing the ability, in order to accomplish it, it is said to enter, for the meanings, speaking is also combining. This shows the entering object of sound. That is the one with the fruit of acceptance and rejection, so everyone enters. And, with whose self-nature as the front, that fruit that one wants to accomplish, this person will enter. This shows the entering object of a person, and it is the key point to establish the entering object of a person as the entering object of valid cognition. The second point is: All phenomena depend on the respective minds of the object-possessors, becoming three: appearing object, fixated object, and entering object. If it is a phenomenon, then it must have the consciousness that makes it the appearing object, and the conceptualization that makes it the fixated object, and the valid cognition that makes it the entering object, because these three are pervasive. The apprehended object is only established in the outer five sources, which is the view of the Sautrantika school. The view of the Mind-Only school is that the apprehended object

There is no fixed rule. Thirdly, the ancients said: "The appearing object is present in all consciousnesses, the apprehended object is the domain of direct perception of meaning, the object of attachment is the specific nature of conceptual thought, the entering object is present in all that agree with the meaning." Among these, the middle two are reasonable, but the first is not, because non-conceptual mistaken consciousness does not have an appearing object. For example, the double moon is the appearing object of the eye consciousness that perceives two moons, but in reality there is no double moon. The last is also unreasonable, because the decisive consciousnesses led by two valid cognitions seem to be considered as agreeing in meaning, therefore, these two do not have an entering object. If there is an entering object, then is the entering object of the former valid cognition its entering object? Or is the latter valid cognition, which is similar to the entering object of the former valid cognition, its entering object? If it is the former, then the reasoning "if the meaning is one, then two are meaningless" will cause harm. If it is the latter, then the decisive consciousness and the two valid cognitions that lead it will become indistinguishable as to whether they are valid cognitions or not. The wise Yakpa, considering the view of the 'Treasury of Reasoning', said that conceptual thought does not have an appearing object, for if it did, conceptual thought would be a subject, because it enters by appearing its own object, it is a consciousness that has an appearing object. He said that if compared with the texts below that do not become substantially non-existent appearing objects, it seems similar, but the appearing object divided into appearance and elimination and the appearing object divided into four objects do not have the same meaning, the former is the difference in the way the non-conceptual consciousness sees the object, while the latter is merely established as appearing there. Otherwise, conceptual thought is a subject, because it enters its own object by substantial power, it is a consciousness that has a substantial object, and it is the same. Furthermore, self-cognizing direct perception is a subject, you have an appearing object, because you have an appearing object divided into appearance and elimination, because you enter by appearing your own object. If it is considered fundamental, then it is acknowledged, that subject, you have an apprehended object, because you have an appearing object, the pervasion is acknowledged. Therefore, considering the appearing object divided into appearance and elimination and the appearing object that has become one of the four objects to have the same meaning, and considering the appearing object and the apprehended object to have the same meaning, is a self-contradiction. The self-system is that all non-conceptual non-mistaken consciousnesses have an appearing object, non-conceptual mis-
