Because that is unreasonable, the difference of meaning is explained. In the commentary on this (sentence), the teacher Dharmashreshtha says that the objects of consciousness are of two kinds, namely the apprehended and the adhered to. Conceptual thought grasps the nature of superimposition, and it is precisely the determination of its own characteristic similar to it. Sense consciousness grasps the moment, and the determination arising from its power is the determination that the continuum of that moment is seen. Therefore, the object of the apprehended is not the object that enters with difference, because both enter only into the object of their own characteristic that is adhered to there. However, the determination arising from the power of direct perception makes the continuum of the moment that is apprehended the object, and that is also the meaning that must be determined, so there is no difference in the object of entry to be adhered to by direct perception and inference. Therefore, both non-conceptual direct perception and conceptual thought have both adhered objects and apprehended objects, and the apprehended object also has both general meaning and self-characteristic. Regarding that view, the early Tibetans considered that the apprehended object has three types: the self-characteristic of meaning, the general meaning of meaning, and the non-existent appearance, and their possessors are also three types: direct perception, conceptual thought, and non-conceptual delusion. However, direct perception has no adhered object, so it has two types: apprehended object and entering object. Conceptual thought has all four objects. Second, by making the appearing object and the apprehended object the same meaning, it prevents both conceptual thought and non-conceptual deluded consciousness from having apprehended objects. The great lord spoke of two main points of reasoning, the first is that the two deluded consciousnesses are phenomena, and it follows that they are non-deluded consciousnesses, because they are consciousnesses with apprehended objects. If it is said that it is not pervasive, like the mind that perceives a variegated rope as a snake, because it has an apprehended object, it is a deluded consciousness. That is unreasonable, does the mind that grasps the variegated rope refer to the root consciousness that takes the variegated rope as the apprehended meaning, or does it refer to the conceptual thought that subsequently thinks this is a snake? The former is a non-deluded consciousness, so it cannot be used as an example of a deluded consciousness, and the latter is a deluded consciousness because it has no apprehended object.

The second reasoning is: both the universal and the unblocked appearance, as the subject, should be seen by other individuals who are situated in a visible realm, because they are visible realms that are different substances from the consciousness that possesses their respective objects. If it is said that even if it is a visible object, it is not seen by other individuals, like the inner body, then that is also unreasonable, because the inner body is obscured, and therefore, even if it exists, it is not visible. Furthermore, both the universal and the unblocked appearance, as the subject, should be the cause that creates the appearance of its own kind for the self-grasping direct perception, because it is the object of apprehension that is a different substance from consciousness. This is pervasive. As it is said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: "Except for the entity of the cause, there is nothing else called the apprehended." In its commentary, the god said: "Thus, the cause that can establish is the object." And: "How does it apprehend with different times? If you say with reasoning and knowledge, it can establish the appearance of consciousness, and the cause should be known as the apprehended." In its commentary, the god said: "Other than the distinction of the cause, there is nothing called the apprehended. If you ask what it is, then with reasoning and knowledge, the cause itself is known as the apprehended. What is it like? It can establish the appearance of consciousness, it can establish its own appearance for the consciousness that possesses the object, that is, it can generate the result of its own kind—consciousness, only this should be taken as the object, and others are not." This is the concluding statement. Also, as it is said in the Treatise on Valid Cognition: "What follows and does not follow, is not a cause and is not an object." Because it is said so. Teacher Dharmakirti's assertion that direct perception has an object of attachment is unreasonable, because direct perception is not an attaching mind. If it is said that the expressive sound also does not have an object of attachment, then the term "the expressed of attachment" is reasonable, but the term "sound has an object of attachment" is unreasonable. Saying this is also acceptable, but now, if it is like having an object of attachment, then it is not the same, if direct perception is not a valid means of cognition, then it is not pervasive that direct perception does not have an object, because sound is not a valid means of cognition, it is not pervasive that sound does not have an object. The determination of its own object by direct perception will be refuted below. Second, establishing one's own system has five aspects: object made
